Duplicate files in files folder

I have added a .pdf file to my website in two different locations within the site, one as a link in a piece of text and another as a link on an image, X5 has stored the same .pdf in the /files folder twice with slightly different names - this file is 116Mb and I don't want to waste space by having duplicates - how do I link to the same file twice without getting duplicate copies stored in the files folder?
I found this post which talks about a similar issue

If you have llinked it the first time, then -after upload- check where the pdf is with what name in the files directory.
Then make the second link to internet file instead of local file.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't want to do that because the site is being built on a temporary domain name and will be moved to a new one once it's ready, If I do as you suggest the links for the second file to an internet location won't work when the site moves - I would have to edit all the links.
Any other ideas ?
Hello D M.,
If you let the program upload the file you added from your computer twice, it will create 2 copies of it and since in the same folder it cannot exist the same name file one is changed.
As alternative since you will move the site what you can do is use an online service like dropbox where you add the file and then you use the url of the file of dropbox in the program. In this way the progeam will not upload the file but use the one you uploaded and it will save space on your hosting provider.
Many thanks!
