Update doesn't work  en

The update doesn't work. After starting the update and accepting the Licence Agreement, it end with error 406. I've seen this in previous versions too. Still not solved? So please tell me where to download the update-package (this was the 'solution' last time).

You could try and install the full version from your profile, top right button here in answers -> download.

Then right click and run as admin.

At last I've got some time to deal with the matter again.

The answer gives a (strange) workaround. Do I have to install the original full version again everytime there is an update? Is this full version updated with every update? What I was hoping for is the solution to the problem. As I said, this problem is not new. Is it still not covered?

I have had this problem before, what I did was to close X5 and run the update.exe in the X5 program folder by itself and that did the trick.

Hi P.R.,

Here's a hint for you:

If you are not able to update your software and you receive the 406 error message, please do the following:
- disable antivirus and firewall because they could block the program's connection to the server.
- make sure you aren't using Proxy
Now try again. 

If you receive the error message again, please restart your pc and close the programs that eventually open when it starts. 
Go into the program file and start the "imUpdate.exe" in order to force the update.

I wish to remind you that if you have Windows Vista / 7 / 8 you should do this after starting your program as administrator: right click on the program's icon then select ''run as admin''.

If you still have issues, please download the program from the ''download'' section here on answers and install. Here you will find the latest version of your program. By doing this, you can delete your old version and install your new with it's latest update.

Thank you both for your answers. I couldn't find "update.exe". In the downloadpage as Samantha suggested, there are only two files in the v10-tab: the full program and the manual. So I downloaded the full program and this installed fine to the latest version 10.1.12.57.

I don't understand why the updates never work, while the program itself does install ok. I don't believe the firewall and antivirus thing. If that was true, why would the program itself doesn't have that trouble? And why would the websiteX5-updates be the only ones having problems with firewalls and antivirussoftware? Furthermore, why are the updates not listed in the downloadsection? It seems to me this would save me a lot of trouble instead of installing the complete program and dig up the product key, mailaddress and password again (and again, and again...). After all: an update would be a lot smaller than the complete program and it is installed on top of an already registered version. Quick and easy, that's how it should be...

Could it be possible to smoothen the process in the future?

Close your x5 program, right click on the icon of the program, choose properties, on the shortcut tab choose open file location, thats the place you will find a file called " imupdate ", double click on it.

Hi, I had the same problem, and I resolved it by restarting my pc in safe mode with network (push f8 on start) and after i've started the updating, all worked fine
