How to remove drop down menu?

Is it possible to remove the drop down main menu. All i require is a list of page titles under the header and then the page menu on each page is all i require but i can see no way to disable the drop down function of the menu.
I have a attached a screen shot of what i want to achieve, to create this i have made the drop down menu, transparant with white text.

You could also use only levels inside your sitemap and make a link in it with the properties button to go to the desired webpage
(subpage = dropdownmenu)

I managed to hide the drop down menu form the sitemap creation page. Under the properties of each menu there is an option to hide the drop down menu for this leve.
Yes you can hide any page, or even the complete menu with the hide buttun in the side menu, you need to create another to get to the page in that case.
