I have put a facebook like button on the home page and it seemed to finally be working but when people click 'like on the website, it does not seem to transfer to the facebook page (i.e. on the website it says 'James Smith and 100 others like this' but on the facebook page these people have not liked the page and are therefore not following. Surely this is the main function of the facebook like button on my website? They hit the like button and it means they like the facebook page and therefore can receive updates and other posts on facebook. I am becoming very dissapointed and dissilusioned with Website x5 professional. Does anyone have a solution for this? Should I be using the facebook box instead of the facebook button?

Hello George,
When people click the Facebook Like button embedded in your website they are just signalling that they 'like' your website, nothing more, nothing less.
I think you are perhaps looking more for the functionality of the Facebook Follow Button:

You might also be interested in the new Facebook Page Plugin:

The Page Plugin is replacing the Facebook Like Box which is being phased out:

Perhaps the above demonstrates how hard it is for Incomedia to keep up with the various Facebook features, as Facebook seem to frequently revise their codebase. To be fair any issue with the Facebook plugins can be attributed more to Facebook themselves than Incomedia. However, Incomedia do release updates to the WebSite X5 program code on a timely basis.
Kind regards,
Paul

ok this makes sense. so for the follow function, would i have to insert the code myself?

also, can i see who likes it?
For the time being, yes... you can configure the Follow Button according to your preference on the page that I linked to previously... once you have all the fields filled in as appropriate, click on 'Get Code'
Insert the JavaScript code in the page(s) on which you want the Follow Button to appear, using the 'Expert' tab which you'll find if you click on the 'Properties' button for that particular page in Step 2 Map Creation. Paste the code 'After opening the BODY tag', as recommended by Facebook.
Use an HTML Code Object to insert the second part of the Follow Button code wherever you want it to appear on your page.

As far as I am aware, yes, but you will have to ensure that you have your Facebook account configured correctly in order to do this. Notifications like this are not connected in any way to WebSite X5... it is all done through Facebook.
