Hello Adi,

WebSite X5 uses an internal 'library' to keep track of all files associated with a particular project.  So the key to success is to persuade WebSite X5 that the files you no longer wish to upload are no longer part of your project, and should be disassociated with the project library.

To this end there are a few things you need to do to ensure that WebSite X5 'forgets' that the files ever existed.

  • Firstly (and quite obviously) you must delete the actual Objects from the pages of your WebSite X5 project.  If you wish to retain some of the files in an Object whilst removing others (e.g. list of images in a Gallery Object) then be aware that in stubborn cases you would be advised to delete the original Object and create a new Object from scratch
  • Delete the contents of the 'Preview' and 'Upload' folders located in the Windows user 'Documents' folder under Incomedia/WebSite X5, etc.  (delete contents only, leaving folders intact)
  • Hold down the 'CTRL' key whilst entering the 'Preview' mode in WebSite X5.  Allow sufficient time for the preview to build to completion as indicated by the progress bar in the bottom right of the screen
  • Finally export your project as an IWZIP file in Step 5, then import this IWZIP file back into the software in the Project Selection screen.  The resulting IWZIP should now be a clean, sanitised version of your project containing all the Objects you actually want in your project, and none of those which you don't!

At this point you can now go ahead and upload to your web server, to confirm that the process has worked correctly.  Be sure and delete any old files from the server first, of course.

Kind regards,

Paul
