I have backed up my project from my old PC to a new PC. however, i got hit with the XML error. I followed your guidelines on renaming one of the file in the back up folder and copy it back to the project folder and replaced the existing project file. When i run the project the error still appears.
im lost as i dont know if ive selected the righ file or i followed the right step. See the picture of project folder (with all files) where existingly there is already a project file in it.
im using evolution 12.

...open the folder called Backup and choose one of them...forget xml backup...

Hos did you backup the files from the old pc?
did you use the "Export the project" function in step 5 or did you copy the project folder on the new computer?
Try to follow also the advice of Gabriele P. by taking the latest .iwprf file from the backup folder and paste it in the main folder and rename it to project.iwprj and then start the program to open it.
