Backups live in the backup directory inside the project directory.
A backup will be created every time you upload using the built in FTP program or in your case, you can click on the down arrow next to save and create a backup at any time (a feature of PRO).

When initially viewed your post had no image attached (I had not logged in). The backup routine you are referring to is in Step 0 - I have never used it so do not know the answer, although I do suspect it is the same place (backup directory inside project directory.
I look forward to the answers you get and having a play myself.

James, when I had a play the backup got added to my backup directory inside the project just as I described.
