How to make a "my profile" page

How do I do a button which tell the user, by name, that he is logged in and gives the possibility to view and edit the the user details? And also the possibility to log out - similar to what you have here on this site.

There is a login and logout object in the object list (click manage in a page or use pulldown menu top right. Update the object list with the update button)
But that's it, there is no members page these are found on forum's and bullitin boards where users interact with eachother (like here).
