New upload changed the pages but header/footer will not update
Autore: Lawrence LanderI have revised my online shop website many times, but now have a problem with latest revision. I changed the header and footer. I exported to disc (a folder on the desktop) and the index page displays correct in a browser, but the uploaded page on the web has the header/footer same as before. I deleted the whole content of the uploaded website folder and uploaded the website again, but still the same - the header/footer reverts to the previous even though I can't find that old file anywhere in the folder.
The Website X5 Preview shows the responsive size has the new header (but not footer) but the desktop size shows the old header & footer. All other changes in the pages have been made as expected.
On mobile the header/footer shows only as the previous version.
I notice the uploaded files state:
- Could not create directory /public_html/antiligsolutions.com/admin/
- Could not create directory /public_html/antiligsolutions.com/admin/css (also ....admin/images)
but it copied all the relevant files
Can you help?
Lawrence, if your site doesn't look right it sounds like you need to flush the cache of the web browser (CTRL F5) or check your site with a different browser you don't normally use.
When you look at your site via FTP, do the directories in question already exist on your site (I generally use Filezilla (free) for this type of task)?

Thank you Esahc. I had been using the Refresh button but didn't know about CTRL F5. It worked - great! Except for the phone, so far.
Yes the directories already existed - is this why it says 'Cannot create'? I use Net2ftp.com. All other FTPs give me communication problems. Net2ftp accepts a zip file of the whole site.
Regards,
Lawrence
Yes Lawrence, if a directory exists it cannot be created.
Since you are not using the built in FTP engine, I hope you are making frequent use of the backup option thru the down arrow next to save.
Have a great day.
