Existing Projects Disappear after Software Update  en

I just updated to the latest version of Website X5 Evolution v.15. When I launched the program after updating, however, my existing projects list is empty! The website files are saved to my computer, but when I click "import", there aren't any available project files to open (because I didn't "export" my project before updating the software).

Thank you in advance for your help!!

Tyler, did you update from v14 to v15?

If this is the case, open v14, export (step5 export, export project) and then import the created iwzip in v15.

If this is an update from v15.1.1 to v15.2.2 please check the default folder (run WX5 v15, and before proceeding select preferences then change your default folder if required).

If this was an upgrade from v14 to v15 please do not point back to the v14 folder, this may work, but ultimately it will end in tears.

Search your pc for the iwprj file of your project. The folder above is probably your project name set this in the preference folder that Eshac has pointed out.

Dear Esahc, dear Andre,

Thank you both for your replies! I have good news and less good news, but news nonetheless.

1) I updated from v.15.1.1 to v.15.2.2 (or something of that sort) (I updated from v.14 some months ago)

2) I had made sure the preferences file was targeted to the directory where the project files are stored.

3) The project files are saved in a Google Team Drive; I access them on my computer via Google Drive File Stream. This has been how I've been working with the files for 6 months now.

4) I closed out of Website X5 completely and restarted my computer, and nothing.

5) I copied all the files into a directory on my hard drive, targeted the preferences setting to that directory, closed out of Website X5, and restarted my computer. When I booted up Website X5, the project appeared in the existing projects panel.

6) I retargeted the preferences option back to the original directory (in Google Drive), closed out of everything, and rebooted my system. When I opened Website X5, there's nothing again.

7) I again retargeted the preferences option back to the directory on my hard drive, etc. etc., and now it doesn't show up anymore.

I was prone to think the issue had something to do with Google Drive File Stream, since it gives access to the files via internet, without the files being saved on the hard drive. As I said, I have been using this system for months, and it just now isn't working. So perhaps there is an issue with this update that interferes with it.

At the same time, however, it again no longer worked when I went back to the files as saved on my hard drive. So perhaps the issue is something else after all, and not related to Google Drive.

The only other "clue" that I can find, if it means anything, is that the project file in the aforementioned directory is a IWPRJ2 file (Esahc, you'd mentioned IWPRJ, and that's also what I found on other forum posts of a similar, although ultimately unhelpful, nature). I don't know if there's much difference in the file type between IWPRJ and IWPRJ2, but maybe it's worth mentioning.

Thank you both again for your help. Hopefully this additional information helps us to find a solution that works!

please post one or more screenshots

if your project is in a sub-directory called

c:\projects\YourProject\project.iwprj2

in Preferences

you must set

c:\projects\

Aha! Claudio for the win! That's what did it. I was choosing the directory in which the project file is located, not the parent directory thereof. (In other words, I was choosing c:\projects\YourProject instead of c:\projects)

It's back now, and I am happy. Thank you everyone for your very kind help!
