How can I generate a custom made website thumbnail?

Or, if not, how can I remove the cookies massage from the thumbnail image most browsers make of the website? The image is not too bad itself.

I assume you mean the favicon icon?

Best answer is time. You set it in step1 (favicon).

There are a few tricks. sometimes they work sometimes not.

If you have changed the thumpnail, you browser will eventualy catch up.

Sometimes you pick it up or slide it in your browser to make it change to a new one. refresh webpage with ctrl-F5, add your favorites (again) if it is in there.

But again, sometimes it's all in vain and then on a certain point it's changed.

Also the browser you use can be more or less difficult in showing/changing the thumpnail

You need to make the picture like this: (from the helpfile of x5)

WebSite Icon: enter the name of the icon (a .ICO, .PNG, .GIF or .JPG file) to associate with the website's pages. This icon will be displayed to the left of the URL in the Internet browser's address bar.

Icons associated with websites are often referred to as favicons (from favorite icons). You can use images in .ICO, .PNG, .GIF and .JPG formats. Files in .ICO format are imported as they are, whereas if you use files of any size in .PNG, .GIF and .JPG format WebSite X5 automatically creates a copy in .PNG format at 16x16 pixels and uses this copy as the favicon.

If you mean something else let us know.

Dear Andre.

Bedankt voor je antwoord!

It's a bit more complicated. I encounter the issue when using the great SEO Powersuite. The program crawls my website and generated the above screendump of my website, calling it a thumbnail.

I've already supplied an favicon which, by the way, works fine. Also a picure for facebook. And on top of it, a special thumbnail for google to show on the left size of my search result. Placed on the general (advanced) SEO code tab, so it will be copied to every page of the website, given all the same little thumbnail (70x70)

<PageMap>
<DataObject type="thumbnail">
<Attribute name="src" value="images/Qdeep.jpg"/>
<Attribute name="width" value="70"/>
<Attribute name="height" value="70"/>
</DataObject>

</PageMap>

However this so called thumbnail looks a sort of screendump of the homepage. PagePeeker.com is another site generating the same result, as many others. Google Search Console does something simulair when using a "live URL" test. However, they come up with the WebSite X5 message that the used browser is outdated(!).

The issue can be addressed two way's. If i can define the screendump in some way in HTML, it's solved. Or if the cookies banner pops up later (when the screendump is taken) is also fine with me. This time must surely be defined somewhere. The picture itself is not bad, I can live with it. It's the shown cookie banner causing the problem in the image.

Thanks in advance!

Rients.

Hi there!

This function is unfortunately not available in the software, I am sorry about this. I would like to suggest that you open an "Idea" Post where you describe to us the feature you would like to see implemented in the future releases of WebSite X5.

Thanks! Kind regards.
