Webform not sending  en

Hello,

I have been having issue with the webform since last update.

I have tested the form using the admin email test, i can get it to work if i use "Standard Script".

However, i am not sure what i am actaully doing here - how do i now make the site use "Standard Script", should the page format be set to something else, it's HTML at the moment.

I can see the option to download the script, is this required, were should it go?

I use Siteground as host.

Thanks

Hello P.S.,

The script type for the email forms is set in Step 1 Settings > Advanced > Data Management > Email > Email form script type:

https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.2/pro/index.html?gestione_dati.htm

There is no need to change the file extension of the page from .html  -  just select the script type in Step 1 as shown and then export your project to the server in Step 5.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

OK - Many thanks.

I am surprised that this would not work with Siteground. Do i loose anything using the "Standard Script" rather than the recomended "PHP Mailer".

Regards

No, this is nothing to worry overly about.  Up until version 11 all mail was sent using the Standard Script in WebSite X5.  Both methods use PHP to generate the mail.

I'm afraid that you would have to ask SiteGround why the PHPMailer library is not working on your hosting.  PHPMailer is quite possibly the most popular PHP mailing library around, and is used by countless software developers, not just WebSite X5.  Unfortunately there is nothing Incomedia can do at their end to resolve your issue.  If you take a look at your SiteGround error log then there might be some useful pointers as to why email sending fails.  I'm sure they would help you resolve this as it should definitely work on a properly configured server.

However, if your email is working using Standard Script then that's perfectly fine.  The quirks and peculiarities of various hosts are precisely the reason why Incomedia offer such a choice of email sending scripts...  so you can find one that works and stick with it.
