Need some ideas on creating a shopping cart page
Autore: Lauren W.I have a bunch of the same items I want to create for online shopping. I am afraid the limited shopping cart will make it difficult but I am hoping someone has a better idea, with less pages.

The first item you come to is headgear wraps. I have about 20 different designs, each design has 4 color options and 3 of each color. Ideally, I would want to put one picture up for the design, and under options limit each color to 3. Well, the shopping cart does not work like that.
My next idea was to create a single page with the design showing at the top, click on the design you want, and have an anchor point to "design" and have a single picture of each color for that design with the limit option of 3. But that will be 80 pictures per page (seems to much for people to view or to load on a single page.)
anyone else have any ideas?
You can make many options under a single item in the cart. Each item is unique - like:
The first item can be instructions, like "pick a size" or "pick a color"
Pick a color...
Head Gear Faceguards - Color (1)
Head Gear Faceguards - Color (2)
etc....
Then make each item a unique part number in the sub options: like:
Faceguard - color1
Faceguard - color2
etc
each can also have its own price
Now your 4 colors are all in one item on the page.
For example look at this: many sizes and many spool lengths but just one display on page:

PS - I have been bugging Incomedia to make the cart better by allowing a better options/variants structure so you could have multiple dropdowns.... would make the cart item much more flexible

If I do this would I be able to limit how many I had on hand for each?
I don't use inventory at all - I have it disabled. That means to the customer everything is present in tha cart and by default in theirr heads it looks available. Does it really matter if it takes a day or two to make - probably not.

unfortunately, it does, I can not get the items back in stock. :(
Oh in that case I think you do have to make each one a unique item
