Object: Poll
This object seems quite difficult to use, I can't do all of the things on the server end that are required to make this Object work. The server provider only wants to take the easy road, "we are not familiar with THAT software, you need to try to setup a SQL File..." like I would know what that is about. Would it be possible for you to refund my Credits? Nothing in the description said anything about the users involement with servers or "Advanced Users Only"?

You don't need to do this, x5 handles this for you.
It is not very difficult to get it working.
let me create a small step by step;
for the poll object you need a databse, that's where SQL comes around, but don't worry x5 will do this job for you, the only one thing x5 needs is a databse, and that needs to be provided by the webhost provider.
This is normaly done with an admin panel from your provider.
You must have gotten this when you created an account with your webprovider.
Go to the admin panel, go to databses and create a database, there should be a button just to do that.
Te create it you are probably asked for a database name, name it poll or x5 database, or whatever you want. you probably need to login name and password as well and an adress, so x5 knows where to send the data to.
With this info you can link this databse in x5 ->step1 advanced settings -> datamanagement, fill in there the information about the databse you just made.
Then select the databse in the poll object and you are done.
If you need more help creating the databse, please give me you webhostname (because it a bit different for every webhosting company) and i will help you with it, or look at there FAQ page on how to create a databse. You need a databse adress too, this is also provider by your webhost and found mostly in there FAQ.
With a database from your provider x5 can do also more very nice things for you where no knowladge is needed for SQL.

I have attached the steps I have used to set this up.
Michael,
you need at your host at least the personal webhosting package, that contains 1 database.
If you don't have a database with your hosting company then eather upgrade or it will not work,
if you have a databse with your hosting then follow these steps:
the picture you set is from the file manager, i suspect - if you have at least the personal webhosting package- you need to check the control panel main (the other tab in your picture)
have you followed this?
https://www.midphase.com/knowledgebase/display/MID/How+To+Create+A+MySQL+Database
if you have set an name and login for this databse you can fill these in in x5 on the section where you already filled something in.
this is what x5 needs from your provider to acces your databse:
https://www.midphase.com/knowledgebase/display/MID/What+Are+The+Basic+Connection+Settings+For+MySQL
Locally, the settings are:
Hostname: localhost -> in x5 Host name
Username: you make up a user name -> in x5username
Password: you make a password -> set in x5 password
db_name: username_dbname set in x5 in field database name
db_table: dbname_table -> x5 will create this for you
Description in x5 is just a name for your own information (x5 databse or so....)
