X5 can use subdomains.
The blog is in a subfolder and it has an index.php so you could call it a subdomain.
Using subdomains is rather easy - you create a subfolder and when yoy for a project set the subfolder as target, then you will have a full project in that subfolder. It is very handy when doing testing.
I have a domain here: https://bramminginfo.dk/
I also have a testfolder in a subdomain to the domain bramny03
If you specify a url like https://bramminginfo.dk/bramny03/ you will then see what seem to be the same project - but it is a testversion of the "real" project in the root.
You can have as many different projects as you want - they can even be of different versions of X5. Or whatever.
The only limit is the space on your webhotel.
What John writes is basically correct. However, a subdomain offers more: read here https://blog.hubspot.com/website/what-is-a-Subdomain to get more info about subdomains.

Thank you so much. I was thinking that subdomains were to be purchased. But now it is similar to having more than one folder on the root seeing how it is just backwards with the sub before the domainname. Interesting.
The blog.hubspot was very informative about showing the structure. Now I understand it!
BTW, John S. - Was your site made with X5? I do like that format.
