Hi
I know a back up should have been done, BUT it wasnt.
I am using Evolution 17 and got an XML error. When trying to open the file it says it was not closed down properly and then when it trys to open it is when the error comes up. Error in XML document 0,0 can not open.
I tried renaming 3 files with the back up file and then 4 files with their back up on a copied version of the original file and none of them worked. AM I out of luck or is there another way to try and recover the file. The main program file is 0kb when it should be 82 KB
Thanks for the attention

Joe, sadly if there has not been a recent iwzip file created (step 5, export project), your only option is to try the backup.
In project selection, select the project then click backup, there should be a number of backups available. select a likeley candidate and select redo. If there are no backups you are out of luck and worse still, even if there is a backup to redo the project may still not open if a crucial file in the project directory has been corrupted or has zero length. The built in backup does not create a backup of all required files unfortunately. and back in v17 it was even worse than it is in the latest versions.
The only safe backup is the iwzip (step 5, export project). These should be manually created after every major editing session and since you are using evo you will have to manually rename (append date) so you can have multiple fall back positions.
In the past Incomedia have stepped up to repair such projects, but v17 is very old & I believe no longer supported and in any case you do not have active support because you have not purchased a recent version.
Sadly I have never been able to recover a project damaged in this way.
