We created a site using Website X5 Pro 2024.1. and are unable to upload to the internet. Error message reads: Generic Error. (Hostname in invalid). Parameter name: serverName). Working with our hosting company, we have tried several host name options but nothing works.
Is there a known work-around or solution to this?

Let's name the web hosting provider, maybe there are people here who are also with this web hosting provider and can give tips.

Thank you Daniel. Our host is Coolcom.
Hi Neil
I had an upload error, now fixed. Try using filezilla or something similar to see if upload works. then at least you can update files while you trace the error

Hi Neil,
Thanks for the suggestion. We did use filezilla to upload and will continue trying to figure out the issue.
As a non-customer, you cannot receive information from Coolcom via FTP as everything is hidden behind a login.
In order for WebSiteX5 to work, it requires not only the correct FTP parameters but also the correct server path to the customer's web space.
I live in Germany and am with Hosteurope and unfortunately the support there doesn't know everything, so as a user I had to find out some things myself.
Perhaps Incomedia staff could contact Coolcom.com support to clarify what needs to be entered into WebSieX5.
Hello Nick,
from what you've described, were you able to reach the server with FileZilla with certain parameters, but were unable to connect with WebSite X5 with the same ones?

Hi Eric,
Yes, we uploaded using FileZilla. Each attempt to use Website X5 upload returns an error message that the Host Name is incorrect. Don't know where to go from here.
Hello Nick,
could you please provide me with a copy of the project with the FTP parameters already added (the same one that allow you to successfully connect with FileZilla) so that I can investigate more closely?
You can export it in Step 5 - Export, choosing the Export the project option to generate an IWZIP file.
You can then upload the file with WeTransfer.com or similar services, and provide a download link at sales @ incomedia.eu (without the spaces).
Thank you.

Thank you for the help Eric! Everything is sorted out and the site is up and running perfectly.
Maybe tell the other Coolcom customers what the error was and how it was fixed.
And then mark the post as solved.
