When I post new items to my blog, the details are not being sent to my RSS feed.
The check box "Create RSS feed including the blog comments" is checked.

Hello Steven,
Can you please write the link th your blog?
If in the blog is activated the option to create the feed an xml file will be generated, and the feed readers programs will check regularly if a new entry is present and show it.
Many Thanks!

The blog is at http://www.castleviewuk.com/blog/index.php
The RSS is at http://www.castleviewuk.com/x5feed.xml
The option to create an RSS feed when writing new blog items has been selected.
I find that I have to manually create the RSS feed to get information to both blog and RSS feed.

A bit more information for you:
Looking at the files sitting on the server in the root directory, I note there are two (2) xml files (x5rssfeed.xml and x5feed.xml).
The x5feed.xml file is the most recent (24th October) , the other (4th January).
I did the following:
The x5feed.xml file was recreated in the root directory.
The "test" item in the blog was not copied to the RSS feed. (I have viewed this directly using ftp software, and in the subscribed feed in the browser).
Hello Steven,
The feed file is not the one in the root. The one you should use for the feed reader is http://www.castleviewuk.com/blog/x5feed.xml
Try with this file and let me know if cannot be updated.
Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,
Yes, I found the x5feed.xml file in http://www.castleviewuk.com/blog after sending the last post. This does have the most recent blog posts, so the blog posts are being copied across to the RSS feed.
So when I create a link on my web page to the RSS feed (created by selecting the RSS link from the available menu options), why does this link not point to the correct RSS feed file? The link does NOT open the file at http://www.castleviewuk.com/blog/x5feed.xml The link actually opens the file at http://www.castleviewuk.com/x5feed.xml

Thought!
I had an RSS feed before a blog, and posted news items directly to the RSS feed. The subscribe to link in the browser points to http://www.castleviewuk.com/x5feed.xml
I then started the blog and selected the create RSS feed containing blog contents check box. Is this creating a seperate RSS feed (the one sitting at ttp://www.castleviewuk.com/blog/x5feed.xml ?
Hello Steven,
Yes the blog creates a new rss feed in the directory /blog/ and so you have 2 different feed.
you can change the link to the correct feed for your reader and delete the old rss feed file.
Please let me know if I can help you any further! Thank you!

Hi Claudio,
So, to change the link to the correct RSS feed in the Incomedia X5 programme is needed. The question is how to achieve this?
There are two RSS feeds. We need to link to the blog-generated feed http://www.castleviewuk.com/blog/x5feed.xml NOT the manually created feed at http://www.castleviewuk.com/x5feed.xml
In your software, there is only LINK: link to RSS (and this opens up the RSS feed file which gets posted to http://www.castleviewuk.com/x5feed.xml).
Alternatively, it is possible to insert a static link to http://www.castleviewuk.com/blog/x5feed.xml in the LINK - file or url option (open in same window). This fixes the problem
I THINK IT SHOULD BE MADE CLEAR IN YOUR USER MANUAL THAT THE RSS FEED CREATED THROUGH THE ADVANCED OPTIONS SCREEN IS NOT THE SAME RSS FEED AUTOMATICALLY CREATED FROM POSTS TO A BLOG.
I hope this helps.
Hello Steven,
WebSite X5 has 2 different features which are the feed and the blog. If you don't need a blog but you want to create a feed you use the rss-feed in menu 4. In case you have a blog, which you keep updated, it creates automatically a feed of your posts in the subdirectory where the blog is. This is a standard feautre that every blog has.
You need to deactivate the rss-feed function and then insert manually a link to the feed. Usually, if you insert the blog link in a rss reader it will find immediatly the feed file.
If you require any further information, please feel free to write back.

Thanks Claudio.
Thanks for clarifying that there are 2 possible RSS feeds /files created in X5, and confirming the solution.
We are agreed on the need to insert a static link to http://wwwsitename/blog/x5feed.xml
[ using the LINK - file or url option (open in same window) ]
to make sure that an RSS feed created from a site blog is correctly presented to the RSS reader.
