How to use payment via PayPal

Hi,
I want to use the webshop in my website (www.uitgeverijpluis.nl).
For the option to pay via PayPal, the box reads 'PayPal account', but I can only enter an email address. I would think I'd need to fill in a bankaccount number.
Can you explain how the payment process works?

Hello Marian,
If not already done, please go to www.paypal.com to create a new account. You would have to provide to PayPal the e-mail address you wish to associate with your PayPal's account. It will be your merchant ID.
This e-mail adress would have to be put in the e-commerce options. Than, when your customers checkout, WebSite X5 sends the amount, bill number and PayPal's ID to PayPal.
