I have problem uploading my website using ftp option Google has given me HTML files. Also I cannot validate or verify ownership of the domain. Your text does not cover the alternative if Google does not supply or accept FTP options but HTML. Thanks for your help

I would like to try and help you with your issue, but I am a little puzzled as to what the problem is?
Google does not have anything to do with the uploading of your website via FTP.
Google does however have options to validate and verify ownership of your domain in Webmaster Tools. Are you trying to verify using the 'HTML file upload' option in Webmaster Tools? If so then it is simplest and easiest to upload this file using a standalone FTP program such as FileZilla, which is free to download and use:

Alternatively you can use the 'Upload file to Server' button, which is located on the toolbar in Step 5 > Website Export to Internet (the second screen, not the first). Look here under 'Reference: Commands for going online':
