Help me please, whenever I try to open my site in the program I get "an error occured while loading the project". I viewed other posts with the same issues and followed the instructions about deleting the project.iwprj and renaming the backup as that. All that happens is the project disappears completely in websitex5 when I do that. I am not sure what else to do. I am not able to do anything on my website and it needs updating everyday. Please help me if you can.

John,
Make sure that the path set in preferences of the startup page for x5 is set to the directory structure of your project(s).
You will find files on your pc with *.iwprj the map that file is in has the same name as your project.
Set the road to that map in your preferences (without the map of the project name)
Then you should see the projects in page 1. If you renamed the backup correctly then yous hould see it and should be able to open it.
Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for attempting to help Andre. I did all as you said and still nothing. When I delete the "project.iwprj" file and then rename the backup file as project.iwprj, still nothing.
Not sure if my site is too large or what, yet the more I add to it, the longer it takes to preview. I am a novice at web building so any help you can provide I would really appreciate it.
Hello John,
Did you try with different backup files to see if one can be opened?
They are organised by date so you can try different ones to see if one can be opened like described here:

About the preview, it depends on the content you add. if you add large images these needs to be adapted and can take longer to load the preview. Try also to stop all programs running in background so the program can load faster.
Many thanks!

Thanks Claudio, after attempting the steps again I decided to go back to a version of the site I had saved two weeks before. I ended up losing some work yet I was able to replace the content yesterday.
You are right concerning the size of my site and images, for my issues would originate when I attempt to save or preview, and yes at times I do have other programs running in the background. I thought I had enough memory yet as my website gets larger by the day, the slower the previews and saving time takes, it seems the solution is simply as you said to stop all programs running in the background.
I am worried that because version10 is a consumer version, as my site gets larger and larger, the slower it will get.
Is version10 professional able to be faster? I would get it today, yet it is a bit too much money for me. I have my sights set on it though. Yet thanks for all the help from you and Andre, and as usual thanks for a wonderful program.

Loading time, size, etc are the same between 10 evo and 10 pro, and it will not give you more speed, however if you are looking for more features, then go ahead and buy 10 pro, you would be able to do more with that, for example you can add a product to cart without jumping to cart page, or in private area you can disable Auto registration and make it manualy, etc

Thanks Anthony, speed was my main need and I liked that there is also an optimization feature. The registration and cart aspects are nice also, I dont use them yet could be very useful for my site. Your post is very much appreciated, and I thank you a lot.
your welcome John
there are many factors involved when we talk about speed.
defrag your hard drive, that will improve your speed.
if you only have one drive (only c) I suggest to get a program that allows you to divide your partition (without harming your windows) then move your musics/pictures/files from your "my document" to that drive, that will even improve your windows startup (after login to your windows account).

Excellent advice anthony, I do defrag yet never thought of the partitioning and moving of "my documents' to another drive. I do have a lot of pictures and files. Will definately do this and I really appreciate you taking time to help me.
