Hi,

I have created a html file through photoshop and was wondering if anyone knew of a way that I could use Website X5 Professional 10 to attach this file and upload to the net.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Keith.

Hello Keith,

You should be able to use the HTML Object to accomplish this.

Create a new page in an X5 project and place a single HTML Object on it.  You can hide the new page in the X5 sitemap if you so wish.  You might also like to adjust the Graphic Properties of the page in Step 2 by 'Creating the page without the template', which will of course strip out any headers/footers, etc. that X5 would otherwise insert.

Copy the html code from your Photoshop item and paste it into the new HTML Object you've just made.

You can tweak the appearance of your new page by linking CSS and JavaScript as desired using the 'Expert' tab of the HTML Object properties.

You could also use the 'Expert' tab in Step 1 General Settings to insert your HTML code manually in the HEADER, HEAD, BODY sections of your X5 page.

Hope this is somehow useful to you.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Thank you for coming back to me.  I have tried to get my head around this issue but I think I'm missing something.  To lay it out I followed the following tasks:

1.  Create a html file in photoshop

2.  It saves as a html file and a folder with images (gif. files)

3.  Open X5 Professional, select file, add new page and then select "html & widgets"

This is where I run into trouble as Photoshop saves the html file as one file and there is no where to add this file under "html & widgets" only to enter code - which isn't how Photoshop saves the file???

Do you have any thoughts how I can make this process as easy as possible - I really apprecaite your help with this issue.

Kind Regards,

Keith.

Paul,

Not sure but could you maybe clarify how to use "HTML Object"???  When Photoshop saves the file as a HTML file I am unable to see how I attach this file.

I would attach the html file photoshop saves - but it won't allow me to - sorry.  But so you can understand Photoshop just saves it as one file - no code or anything (that I know of) - cheers.

If you could run me through the steps I would really apprecaite it.

Kind Regards,

Keith

Hello Keith,

Right-click on the .html file which Photoshop creates and select 'Open with Notepad'...  this will allow you to view the HTML code which you can then paste into the HTML Object in WebSite X5.  If you don't initially see Notepad as an option then you can find it using the 'Choose default program' dialogue on the same right-click menu.  Notepad is often located in the root Windows directory.

Or you can use any other HTML editor of your choice to open the file.

If you want more control over the positioning of the code then you can paste parts of it in the HEADER, HEAD & BODY sections, etc. using the 'Expert' tab in Step 1 of WebSite X5.

Hope this clarifies the procedure for you.

Kind regards,

Paul
