Is there a best practice method for moving Project Data and migrating it from one PC to a fresh installation of Website X5 Evolution on a brand new laptop?
Reason I ask is that last time I attempted to do this and just moved the project files themselves, something wen't haywire and I lost a lot of things like page formatting etc Just from reopening the project in the new client.
Obviously it would be superb if there was some form of Best Practice guide to migrate all existing user settings / ftp site settings (obviously without passwords), downloaded templates etc.. Kind of like a redeployment packaging tool - Even as a menu item, save all preferences and data and load all preferences and data to keep it simple.

My guess is that is if saved all your files on a flashdrive while creating a website with Webstie X5 Evolution, then when u move it to another computer it will spoil the formatting and most of the pictures will be corrupted, that is simply because the new computer assigned a different name to your flashdrive.
Now the best way to move a project from one computer to another is to make sure during the project creation that all the files, pictures etc are stored on a folder in your computer. If that is done then you can copy it to a flash drive, and upload it to another compter and then re-open it with Website X5 Evolution.
Hope this helps,,

Definitely not, all project files were stored in the local PC My Documents, and moved to the same location on the new one. What I dont think transferred was the raw template and thats why the website corrupted. Those templates don't seem to be embedded hence why it didn't carry across :/
Thats why I hope theres a proper migration methodology to follow which exports templates etc that are outside of the project files
Hello Chris,
You need to export your project in Step 5 of WebSite X5 in order to ensure that everything is transferred correctly, including the project template.
Then use the Import button to import the exported project back into WebSite X5 on the new laptop.
Export/Import is the holy grail :)
Kind regards,
Paul
