Automated file update

Is there a way to update files automaticall which are uploaded via link? The idea is that I make changes in the file which is saved on my computer and the ammended file is uploaded automatically once I export the website (since it is connected to the website via a link). Is this possible? How?

To the best of my knowledge this is not currently possible. I hope that someone else will prove me wrong, but I have tried various methods in the past to get WebSite X5 to recognise changes in linked files, without success.
This would be a fantastic addition to the software, and I encourage you to open an 'Idea' post where you make your request known. Hopefully this feature might appear in a future release.
At the moment WebSite X5 seems to store the original version of a linked file in its internal library. Subsequent uploads in Step 5 will always use this version of the linked file, and will even overwrite newer versions of the same file which exist on the server (which have been manually uploaded by FTP client, etc.)
I use a lot of linked files and have become used to refreshing/replacing entire batches of such files using FileZilla, after every export to the server in WebSite X5.
