Can someone please help!
I have completed a very extensive and time consuming project on Websit X5 11. I need it published quickly. I opened my X5 software this evening and no existing project is listed. I have read all the info on preferences etc but I cannot understand what to do and can't find the files I am looking for.
Please help me restore my project - I am severely woried about this and need an idiot's guide to restoring it please.
Thank you - Sandi

You will need to find a file with extension *.iwzip (if you have mada a copy of your project in step5 for backup purpuse for instance)
Or you need a file with extension *.iwprj (you create it if you use the save button)
Please look for these files on your pc, if you can't find them, you can, -unfurtanatly- only start offer again. (make backups, save from time to time specially after making a lot of changes)
If you find one of them:
iwprj: set the preferences folder on the folder where the iwprj file is in, open x5 and your project should be there.
iwzip: import it in project selection.
Hope you can find one of those files !

Thank you BR André,
I have found a backup of my original website which is in English and have managed to import this.
However, when I go to the .iwprj file which is the Espanól copy of the same website which I am connecting with the English version. When i go to the preference and try to add this file nothing is happening. Although I constantly save my work there seems to be nothing stored in this file. Again, can you help?
Also is there any reason why the first project and the duplicate copy of the project should have dissapeared in the first place? I hope you can advise.
Sandi
Sandi,
Why it has dissapeared I don't know. if it is from your project screen, then eather the files got damaged or lost the folderpath has been changed or the preference folder was not set correctly. But Why, no idea from here though.
If you have the iwprj file you must also have the folder where it is in, and the other files from Incomedia that belongs to the projevt. (If you only copied the file then it will not help, you need the folder and files that belongs to the project)
I hope you have them them, then the preference folder needs to point to the folder where the iwprj is in, so not to the file but the folder before that, else you will not see it in x5.
example:
the iwprj file is found here:
c:\Documents\your name\Incomedia\evo11\projectname\projectname.iwprj
then the preference folder needs to be:
c:\Documenten\your name\Incomedia\Evo11\
don't use this: D:\Documenten\your name\Incomedia\Evo11\projectname\
Hope this helps.

Hi Andre,
This is seriously driving me crazy. I seem to have the project etc for the Spanish version but cannot access it through the preferences.
Even more frustrating is that I cannot now load the exported file of the English version I saved. It is coming up with the following error message:-
An error occurred while loading the project
The specified path, file name or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248.
The path is as follows:-
C:\Users\sandr_000\Documents\Sandi's stuff\Instituto de Ingles Nicaraguense
Is there something wrong with the Incomedia software. Our business opens by 15th December, 2015. And I cannot even load my original project. Please help!
Thank you

Hi,
I have managed to reload my original project - so that's ok.
However, I have found the files for the Spanish version and a project file etc. Also I have pictures of all the previews I saved. Can these be loaded/imported in anyway?
Thanks
This is the same as above, change the preferences to the folder where the project file is in. (so one before actually)
You can once opened a project export it in step5. the file you get can then be imported.
So create a backup in step 5, if you can open the Spanisch version do the same.
Set the preference folder to a place you like or original place. Then you can impport the project and they wil stay in the preference folder that you are in at that moment.
