Desperately needed improvement to video lightbox
Autor: Adrian E.I have a video gallery on one of the pages of my site. All videos are on YouTube and there are currently 18 of them. It looks horrible! So I have been looking for a way to add a video lightbox with a YouTube playlist so I can replace the 18 videos.
After doing some research it appears that YouTube offer such an option free of charge but every time I attempt to use it I get a message saying "ERROR: This option is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
Then I came across a small program called VideoLightBox which is free for non-commercial use from www.videolightbox.com. It is extremely easy to use and can inject the generated code directly into the required page at the exact position you want it. It works quite well except for a few issues with X5:
1. If you export your completed site and then use VLB to inject its code into the page you need it on, you can no longer update your web site with X5 as that will overwrite the page as soon as you export your changes.
2. VLB displays thumbnails in rows and columns which is almost as bad as having rows of videos. What is really needed is a carousel like X5 creates for slideshows.
3. VLB doesn't offer an option for justifying the thumbnails. They simply default to the left of the page. This would not be an issue if a carousel was being used.
At the moment, X5 does offer a video lightbox of sorts but it only allows for a single video. Surely it must be possible to develop the program so that lists can be used and offer a choice of thumbnail or text links to open the lightbox?
As I say, VLB is a free download so why not grab a copy, run a couple of tests, and see the code it generates. Of course there are javascript, CSS, and Jquery files generated too but that should be no problem to Incomedia's development team.
I may be wrong but it seems to me that the only way to stop X5 overwriting the code is if it is generated by X5 itself.
Hello Adrian,
If you can get the code generated by this program then you can add it in the HTML code object in step 3 so it won't be overwritten if you export the project.
Many thanks!

It is too difficult to do that as you have to list all linked files separately, but what are the applicable linked files?
Besides which, the program does NOT create a carousel so you end up with loads of thumbnails which is not very professional. You can see how mine has turned out at www.liquidass.fr/galerie.html.
Hello Adrian,
If you press CTRL while you click on the add button it will allow you to add more files togheter in the /files/ folder.
In any case we will take your suggestion in consideration for future releases of the program.
Many thanks!
