If you go to v12 from v9 you are making a big leap, the newer functions have some better and more compatible ways of working, and older obsolete items are removed. I assume you want the latest on coding and design ? In that case there are some things that change. How much they apply to you depends on your project, and the items concerned, but it is always needed to check up after an version conversion.
