WP and X5 work in a completely different ways. In general terms WP is server side based and X5 client side based.

If you want to create a template from scratch in WP you will need to be code proficient, or use a program like Artisteer/Themler or TemplateToaster. All of which fall short of X5 in features and functions. Plan on a long learning curve with WP compared to X5 also.

I just spent a month taking a good look at WP (Joomla and Drupal) and found it quite interesting to say the least. Just remember, "it's the fastest and the most easy way" to set up a website.     You can't even preview your site without going live or having a server set up on your local machine.

If a client insists on a CMS site or your a working pro then that's another story.
