Multi language  en

I now have a need for different languages.

I hoped that X5 could offer some automatic. By that I mean that when standing on page 4 in the "main" language, and then choosing another language, then You would see page 4 in this language ( if awailable - else the index )

But it seems that it is quite manual - or is it me that can't figure it out ?

I have a testpage : http://www.bramminginfo.dk

( Don't take notice of the "static" seagull in Danish. I have reported the problem ( importing from wax5 files ) to Webanimator. )

This is what I can have to function - but when on page 4 in DK, I am "thrown" up to the index whan choosing another language. That is of course also what the URL says it should do.

As I see it, the only way to achieve the page 4 >> page 4 another language, is to have the language selection flags, on each page - correct ?

In short - my question is : Does the user has to make the language selection all manually, or does the system offer some automation ?

Kind regards

John

...I regret for you, but the only way to achieve a goal to publish a multilanguage site, it's the knowledgement of the language; with the same contents you must to traslate every thing in the correct way; afterwards, creating a subfolder on your site you can publish every thing. On the other hand, you have the limited solution of the traslator like Google, Bing, ecc. but it's only for the file you like, not for the entire site.

regards.

Thanks for the answer.

Maybe I was not specific enough - I know I have to translate all the text myself.

What I miss/need/want is that when standing on page 4 in the Danish language - then - when selecting the English language - that I am still on page 4 ( in inglish ) AND NOT the index page.

How to achieve that.

...ok; it's simpler than you image; create an hide page with the language you want and trough a link...

Gabriele - Your last post was in no way useful for me. Maybe You have something smart to tell - but please then tell it !

I am asking for some automation in Website X5, that does the job - I want to awoid to have language selection on each page with individual links - I want to have only the selection in the top, and then some automation that finds the right page.

Is it possibe in the program as it is today ?

This post is for Gabriele P.

Hello Gabriele. With my recent post I tried to say, that I can't get much out from what You write about a hide page. I think something is missing.

It is as I wrote :

I have found out, what the meaning of life is. It is an experiment, started by .....

Could You please try to finish Your post ?

Kind Regards

John

Hi John,

if I understan right, a solution you have is to insert the choice of languages for example in the header.

In this way, you would be able to choose in every page.

The only thing you should do is to set the redirect to the page you want in the language you want.

Hope this helps

Hello Simone

I am very confused. In my first post I have a link to a site. On this site I am able to select on every page as I have put the selection in the header. And it functions BUT :

As I have put the link in the header, I only have the possibility to make one link per language, and that link leads to the language-home-page.

How on earth can You put links for every page in the header ?

Please tell me.

I want it so that when standing on page 4 in the Danish language, then - when pressing on the English language-selection, I am brought to page 4 in the English version.

The same - when I am on page 20 in the english version/language - then - when pressing the french language/selection, then I am brought to page 20 in the French language/version.

I know I can make that quite manually, by putting the language selectio on every page instead of in the header, but this is a very oldfashioned and troublesome way to do it.

Do You have a solution for this ?

kind regards

John

PS Either You don't quite understand what I mean, or I don't understand what You mean.

Could You show me a site where You mean the solution is ? If wanted, I can produce a site to show what I mean.

Hi John,

we have a solution. It could take a little bit of time but it should work.

if you want different links in different pages in the header, what you can do is insert in the header the slideshow, repeat the pictures for each page, select in which page you want the picture to appear, set a different link for each picture.

In this way, the picture at your page 4 will open just another page 4, in another language.

Hope I was clear enough, if not please let me know, thank you very much!

Hello Simone

I now see that You understand what I tried to tell :-)

You people can be creative - thumbs up.

I think it will be a balance act, to have it to work, and with many pages it can be troublesome - but I will now see if I can get it to function. At first sight I saw a possibility to, on a page only to show the flags for the languages that were awailable - but then You can't shift to that language without shifting to home and thereafter to the language - home. But - maybe there is a smart solution for this - I will give it a try.

I think I will post an idea where the program automatically shifts to the same page - does the job for You.

But for now, I will thank for the input, and go on.

Kind regards

Hello Simone

I have tested it in my French version and it funcktions - but - Mamma Mia :

On my testsite I have 25 pages. Such a number of pages is not unnormal I think.

I have three languages. Also not many languages.

For each language I have to import the same image 25 times for each of the two other languages. For each language a total of 50 images. On each image I have to make a link AND I have to specify the page for which the link shall be awailable.

This is two inputs for each image - total 100 inputs.

As I have 3 languages this will give 300 inputs total.

And it is not just an input - each input must match exactly language, link and page to be active for.

All this could be avoided if the system itself could combine a directory URL + the actual page.

In this case You only had to specify three (3) inputs.

The inputs is directory for language 1,2, and 3.

It would be 100 times easier and then You have the mouse over function as You could work with an image instead of a slideshow. I can't figure out to have a mouse over in the slideshow.

I have posted the above as an idea - just wanted to tell You that it can function - but that You alreday knew :-)

Kind regards

John Schwartz

PS as the site is only for test I don't have to make the 300 inputs, but when the "really" page comes I have to make many inputs.
