Website X5 Intranet Sites do not work in IE  en

Sites built with X5 v13 do not support .local addresses in IE only.  The same sites work in edge, chrome, etc.  When published with .local, IE shows the following error message:

Your browser does not support the features necessary to display this website.

Update your browser or continue without updating.

There doesn't seem to be any way around this except publishing the site with a .com or other extension, but this is not an option.  Please help.

Hello Gabriel,

Which exact version of IE are you using?

Have you tried to see with an updated Version of IE like Version 11 or EDGE?

Many thanks!

The issue is in Windows 10, IE 11.  It works on older versions of IE (like windows XP, IE 8(I think)).  I thought it was a server issue at first, so I tested it on another server and was able to replicate the exact issue.  If you create a new site and name it whatever.local, it simply does not work in IE 11.  It does work in all other browsers that I tested, Edge, chrome, firefox.

For now, I have changed it to a .com and manually edited the hosts file to fool the browsers to going to the correct IP, but this is a short term work-around as hopefully you can fix this.

Hello Gabriel,

Is it set in IE as trusted site?

Probably IE has the restrictions settings activated and the website needs to be set as trusted for the local intranet zone.

Many thanks!

Yes, I tried everything that I could think of including confirming that it was set as a trusted site.  This is pretty easy to test if you don't mind as I am confident that you will find the same results.

At first I thought it to be a server related issue so I replicated the site on to another server and experienced the same behavior.  Simply renaming the site to .com resolved it, but hopefully this is a temporary work-around and a solution can be found.

Hello Gabriel,

I verified and got the same message  but once I allowed the activex components in IE it worked correctly. This depends on IE which is trying to block the scripts but since it works with EDGE then it is an issue they decidd to solve with the new version which is EDGE.

Many thanks!

How did you go about allowing active x components?  Like you were prompted and you said yes?  This prompt does not come up for me.  I tested this on multiple PCs.

Also, I don't know anyone that likes or uses Edge.  Just because Microsoft is trying to shove it down our throat doesn't mean that you should give up supporting it.  At least, I hope not.

Hello Gabriel,

IE prompted the request to activate the xcomponents and once I allowed them it worked correctly.

I am using the defualt settings of IE. Try to reset them to default and then test it again.

The problem is microsoft is no longer supporting IE but only EDGE and if IE has an issue this one will remain since there will be no longer updates for it and this issue seems to be only for IE which has an issue with the security settings on a local adress which, from the program cannot be done anything.

Many thanks!
