Activation and administrator access  en

Hi,

I've just installed 'WebSite X5 Start 13' on Windows 10 Pro (x64) and everytime I launch the program it prompts for activation, I enter my email and password then it launches ok.

I have two questions:

Why does this application need to run with elevated privileges giving full administrator access to the system, this is very poor application security that means the app can now bypass many of Windows built in security measures.

Why does it require activation on launch every time?

Thanks.

Hi Tony,

usually the program starts with no activation request.

What I suggest you to do is to run the software as administrator, then it shouldn't be asking license number and email anymore.

If the issue continues, try to download again the software from the "my downloads" section here on your profile.

Please let me know, thank you very much

I have set it to run as Administrator on launch, it still asks everytime. You also didn’t answer my question as to why your software requires admin privileges, this is extremely bad practice for any user application.

Hi Tony,

try also to temporary disable the firewall, it's just a permission's issue.

About the admin privileges, it's all safe and the program will work normally on your pc, without any safety issue.

Please let me know, thank you very much

Hello Tony

("I have two questions:")

Why does this application need to run with elevated privileges giving full administrator access to the system? IT DOES NOT!

Why does it require activation on launch every time? DITTO, IT DOES NOT, under normal operation.

Some previous posts:

Hello Artur, this can happen when you install X5 under a different user profile than the one you're using. Also if you installed X5 under a "standard" user profile and used the adminstrator password to install, this will fail every time. Just a couple of thoughts.

I don't like to operate under an admin user profile myself. So anytime I install X5 or update I change my standard user to adminstrator, do what needs to be done and always open the program, and then back to the standard user profile. Always works for me with no problems.

Remember that X5 does not very from their rules about software usage. Being one user on two computers. Unlike many programs that can have many users on the same computer. Of course you can do the folder copy and paste as posted several times.

Hello Wayne,

Probably the registration file has been cancelled by the antivirus or it could not been found by the program but you can proceed to unlock the program with the key since it will not count as new activation since it's the same computer.

If it should happen again please check if under C:\Users\ The Admin username \AppData\Local\Incomedia\ there is a folder called WebSite X5 v12 - Evolution and if the licence.iwl file is inside this folder.
If this folder exists and the file is there, copy the folder and paste it under c:\Users\ Your Windows username \AppData\Local\Incomedia and then start the program.

Many thanks!

Hello Ava, there has been several posts about this in the past and happens on a regular basis. Do some forum searches using "activation" and "license" from the box at the top. This usually happens when the software is loaded under one profile/user and a different user/profile uses the program.

Some of the fixes:

1. Right click on the program and run as adminstator one time.

2. Copy the license folder from the admin user/profile that loaded X5 and paste into the standard user's profile.

3. Load and run under an adminstrator profile.

4. Load the program under a standard user(that was changed to admin) then change back to a standard user. Then for updates the profile will have to be toggled to admin and back again. (I don't like running programs under an adminstrator profile but as a standard user.)

Hi Michael van Dijk,

Please check if under C:\Users\ The Admin username \AppData\Local\Incomedia\ there is a folder called WebSite X5 v11 - Evolution and if the licence.iwl file is inside this folder.
If this folder exists and the file is there, copy the folder and paste it under c:\Users\ Your Windows username \AppData\Local\Incomedia and then start the program.

I hope this helps. Thanks for letting me know,

Noemi

Hello Michael,

("Nope, no folder. Is it possible it could have been deleted due to windows update? And if so how can i upload x5 e11 again?")

Open up win explorer and click on tools.

Then go to: "Folder Options" and "View"

Then turn on "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also do a search and or check back through the last 6 or so pages of posts. Many people having the same kind of problem including myself. (The file copy into the user profile that you're running the program under seems to fix many of the problems. But they do need to address this with better instructions or fix the program to run under a different user profile other than Admin.)

Do a little more research if needed. Many including myself have had to deal with this one user per computer with no exceptions unless you do the folder copy and paste.

Regards - Donald
