Error while loading/ x5 needs updating ASAP
Autor: Mairead T.My problem is two fold.
Firstly, when I try to open my project, a message pops up saying 'error while project loading' so I cannot open my file.
From other postings, I have learned that I need to upgrade from version 7 to 9 so I can then upgrade to newer versions. However, I don't know how to do this with the current message not allowing me to go past Step 1.
I recived this reply on another forum but I cannot reply within the conversation.
‘You can better use the email that you bought x5 with then it should work.
If the project is not too big you could start over again, there have been a lot of changes in v7 to v9.
So even if you can find someone to do the conversion for you ( you need v8) and i can't see if you have it.
Then you need to do a lot of fine tuning.
Starting from scratch will help you also use the new items in the latest version, again, I can't read what that is this makes my answer also tricky.
You can copy and paste offcource pictures and text (open them next to eachother or copy from internet) That saves time.
Else I can convert for you but you need to send me the project from v7 and I shall see what I can make of it.’
I have changed from my personal to work email. I tried to enter licence number but it won’t recognise it.... I imagine it is because it is so old.
I am desperate to resolve the issue ASAP. While I see that I can download the new edition and copy and paste files. How do I ensure that it is the same website address that the information is being sent too?
Celia, to correctly log into the helpcentre you need to use the email address that you used to register your software, once you have done so you can click on your profile and select downloads, then you can download versions of the software you own if necessary.
Unfortunately assistance is no longer offered by Incomedia for Version 9, but assuming you have a working installation of Version 9 or later, and have correctly logged in, one of us will be happy to offer suggestions with regard to the easiest way of rebuilding your site.

Thank you for your prompy reply. I have logged in with the school email address which was used when setting it up. Unfortunately, when I go the profile, there are no downloads available. The website was set up a number of years ago and the initial person that set it up is now unavailable so I am at a loss and the only member on staff with any information.
My version is not working properly. It suddenly stopped allowing me to go through the steps in order to access the school website. It says ' error while uploading' I am a teacher in a school and want to update the site ASAP and am greatly in need of assistance.
from forums, I gather that I need to update. I would greatly appreciate information as to how to do this.
Celia,if you have a working version of WX5 V9 and the existing site is not too large it would be easy enough to copy content from the online site and recreate it.
However, in your position I would purchase WX5 Evolution 13, recreate the desktop website as above, then at your leisure convert it to responsive.

If I were to buy the WX% Evolution 13, how do I ensure that the website name is the same? how do I ensure that I don't end up with two website locations. Do I need to delete old files after I set up new? Is it a problem that our licence number is not recognised when I enter it into my profile?
also, would it be possible to download the trial, copy and paste all files into it, then buy the new version so I could see how it works and if it suited? If so, does doing that make it much more complicated? How much is it to purchase?
also, if I download the version 13 onto this laptop, would be possible to change the location of the website file in time. (As in, when a new laptop might be purchased, could I move the file from this desktop onto a new one?)
thank you. I hope that this will be the solution.
Hello Celia
If you buy WX5 and re-create your site, you will upload it to the same place as the existing website. The domain name will not change, and neither will the location. WX5 lets you create the website, it's up to you where you choose to host it and what to call it.
If your existing license number is an issue you can ask for help here and Incomedia will assist you. If the original email address is no longer accessible, it would be necessary to use a current email address because that is how you will receive the new license number.
Yes, you can download a trial copy of WX5, but I believe only the Professional version (even so, there are limitations, maximum of 8 pages I think, and the site cannot be uploaded to the web). If you download this be aware that nothing you do can be used in the Evolution version, you would need to purchase the Professional version. http://www.websitex5.com/en/pricing.php
I believe there is a brief money back period if you do not like using the product or find it does not meet your requirements and have not used it to upload a website.
In WX5 versions from 9 onwards your site can be exported to iwzip and imported on any other PC/Laptop with the same verion or later, so yes, you will have no difficulty transferring the project.
If you purchase you will be entitled to install WX5 simultaneously of 2 different pc's for your use.
