Shopping Cart and MP3 Player Displayed for Each Product  en

Hello,

I have been testing out the demo of Website X5 Professional, and there are a lot of things I love about it so far, as I get the hang of it.

However, one major thing, that would be a major part of my business websites that I'm looking to redo, is creating a Shop that allows people to hear MP3 instrumentals that may interest them before they buy.

It seems, the only way I can figure out in getting a player to play, is by using "Link" in the General Product Settings tab, which then allows a person to click on the image to then show an MP3 player for that.  However, this isn't very practical, and even more so, not everyone would know to click on the image to access a hidden MP3 player.

Is there a way to create a Digital Shop on X5 that already displays the MP3 players for each product

This is my website at the moment... https://www.genycis.com

Here's an example of a shopping page on my site that shows the MP3 players already in each product on the shopping cart page:   https://www.genycis.com/east-coast-beats.html

I also have another website that I'm trying to recreate in X5 that would follow the same format, though with a different genre of music... it too however, would require MP3 players displayed for each product so that the person can shop, listen, and be able to add to cart any option they love hearing so as to purchase.

I'm not sure if I can achieve something such as this with X5, or if this is not possible.  Please let me know, as this is the main component that I would be looking for in being able to create a Digital Downloads Shopping Cart for my website.

While I love the editor I was using with my current website, it is discontinued now and does not support Responsive site for mobile users, which I love that X5 does.  However, I'm not sure how to manage getting MP3s for each product to display on the shop page.

Thank you in advance for your help with this.  I do appreciate it.

Best regards

Hi German.

I see that by clicking the play button, you are directed to a page where you can listen to the track.

Why not place the Audio/video object directly on the same row as the track you want to sell.

I suggest you share a screenshot with the result you're currently having so that we can better work out a solution for you

Please keep me updated on this

Stefano

Hello Stefano,

The website pages I linked you to, specifically such as either this page here:  https://www.genycis.com/east-coast-beats.html or such as this page here:  https://www.genycis.com/story-beats.html were more of what I'm aiming for with X5.  These pages I had created with an older website editor called EZGenerator that has unfortunately now discontinued support and no longer updating.

I haven't yet purchased X5 based on two reasons after finding out from my working with the demo of it, and other comments here in the forum.

The first, is based on the main situation being the MP3 player on the shop page.  It seems there's no way for me to achieve this based on working with X5.  I have attached a JPG file that shows two screenshots on it (pt1 and pt2)... the first shows how it appears before I click on an image.  There is no MP3 player visible on any browser when I do the test.  I have to click the image that is on the catalog item.  When I click that image, the player appears (as you can see in pt2 image).  This player only shows up until I move the arrow away, to which it then disappears again.  I tested it on my phone and on my tablet, and it doesn't show up on my phone (though it may also be due to my phone being an older model), and on the tablet, you have to click the button for the player to show up similarly to a desktop PC (though with tablet, the player doesn't disappear unless you click on another image).

This setup is not very user friendly at all for someone that is trying to create a Website shopping page with MP3 audio available for sale, as is the setup that I am currently using with the older website editor I used to make my site on the links above.  I'm hoping to achieve the Shopping pages to where the MP3 player shows readily available in both browser and mobile, and the person can see the players for each option they can buy, to where all they need to do is click on the play button of the player.  The other issue with the player too that I see is that if I play two or more music players at the same time, it seems that the original player doesn't stop playing, as is the case with my links above to where the player is triggered to stop playing the moment a play button to another player is pressed.  This is the case when I try to simply use the Audio or Video option in X5, to which there's no option within X5 to make this happen.  Therefore, for someone such as myself who is selling instrumentals, it will cause a great problem if someone is pressing play button after play button to scan through my work, and the original players aren't stopping at the press of a new player.

The second issue that has had me hesitant with X5 so far, is the complaints that I'm seeing with regards to the shopping page checkout.  I've seen comments by someone who said that their customers received a tracking number or other information that they should only have received AFTER purchasing their item, which for me would be a major problem as I'd be selling digital goods, and would hate that someone would be able to get my work for free before even fully paying for it, if they were sent the download page first before paying.  I also saw some complaints as well that a customer doesn't immediately receive the email with their download link in it, and that you have to go in and manually send those emails out.  This is concerning as the editor I was originally using does send the email out to the customer immediately after purchase, and no manual work is done on our part unless we choose that option.  I think what is more concerning though is that this has been addressed various times last year, and X5's staff seemingly doesn't think this is important and is doing or has done nothing about it.  That in itself makes me question whether X5 is worth buying, or if this issue will go on for another year because the staff doesn't deem it important, even though the customers buying X5 feels that it's vitally important for the businesses they are growing.

I thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter and look forward to hearing from you.  So far I have been enjoying X5 Professional, but if I cannot get through these hurdles, especially with setting up Shopping Pages that show MP3 players and that stop after another play button is pressed, I may not be able to purchase X5 after all sadly.  Do keep me posted on my concerns and questions.  I do appreciate it.

Hi German.

The reason why the layout you chose is not showing properly via mobile is due to the fact that you're trying to use tooltips as the container for your media players.

I would suggest rethinking the layout done this way, since the tooltip are not easily usable on a mobile device, considering that there is no Hover effect on a touch device.

About the purchasing concern:

At the moment, you're required to manually confirm the order from the admin panel in order for the final product to be delivered to the user.

The product WILL NOT be delivered before the payment has been done. The only email the user will receive is a summary of the order he made, not the final email.

Also yes, the audio object is not made so that another audio object stops when starting a new one. This is an effect that would require additional custom code to be achieve, for which the staff cannot provide support.

I will be glad to answer any more doubts you might have. Just let me know here

Thank you

Stefano

Thank you for the information on the order process Stefano, I do appreciate it.  That's good to know that at least, they wouldn't receive anything until I confirm.  I guess I would have to let the purchaser know that they will receive email notification within 24 hours, so as to allow myself time to manually confirm the order for delivery.

A question I have as well for you... I'm thinking that X5 is Paypal supportive for the shopping process of a customer on my site, correct?  Is it also Stripe supportive?  I'd want to be able to provide both Paypal and Stripe options to my customer.

With regards to the music aspect, what do you recommend would be the best way for me to create a Shopping cart of multiple pages for my website in X5, to where I'm able to create a page similar to the page link I had sent above on my previous post?

I'd really like to be able to create the page to where I can make a Shopping Catalog of my instrumentals, and to where the MP3 audio player appears.  However, at this current time, I'm not sure of the best way to do this, and creating manual Paypal buttons for each of 800+ instrumentals that I have to sell would be beyond time consuming vs trying to figure out how to best set it up within the Shopping Cart settings within the Product Settings.  As I mentioned earlier, this is one of two websites that I'm trying to recreate in X5 as my other website uses a similar format with the need for over 500+ products I sell, all related to the audio player showcasing each of them as well.

Please let me know if there is a workaround for this, or if there is no way to do this in X5.  Thank you in advance.

I'm guessing there's no other way to really make this happen after looking further.  About the only way I can see that this would be possible, is to split cells and to add a bunch of Row cells to add a "Video and Audio" plugin for every single cell.  However, this won't align properly alongside the Product catalog, and will take a lot of work to configure for 800+ instrumentals to split between roughly 12 pages, just to try to make it work decently.  Some of my category pages have over 60 to 70 instrumentals on it... would I really need to "Add Row Cells" and add 70+ of them just to make this work?

I looked all throughout the "Shopping Cart" settings, but the only thing that relates to Audio file is in the "Link" option as you can see on the attached image.  It would be great if there was an Audio / Video tab of some sort in the Product Settings options that allowed us to add either the Audio or Video file by Local File on PC or Internet File.  However, the only area I can see that allows this is the Link area.  None of the other tabs have anything that I can use to plug in an audio file, which leads me to believe that this is not possible for products at all.  There isn't even an HTML coding option for each product that would allow us to create or add HTML code for a 3rd party player for each audio file.  It seems that I would only be able to do this with separate cells for each audio, but then I'm not sure how I would relate that cell to connect to my Product Catalog cell.

Any other information that you can provide as to how I would pull off creating my site's webpages to resemble the product catalog similar to https://www.genycis.com/story-beats.html for example, would be greatly appreciated.  This is the heart of both of the websites I'm hoping to create, and so far, playing around with X5 Demo, I have not figured out a way to be able to recreate my Shopping Cart pages to allow a Audio Player to be added into a catalog item at all.

Thank you kindly.  Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi German.

I can confirm the support for PayPal payments. About Stripe, you'd have to include their custom code in the Payment section of the E-commerce settings I'm afraid.

It is definitely possible, but has to be done manually.

About the audio per product, I believe the Product description actually supports HTML.

You can create the audio tags in there and the manually upload the files on the server. At this point, you should be able to see the player in the description.

Let me know if I can be of further help!

Thank you Stefano for the information.  I do appreciate it.  I'm playing around with the coding now and it seems that option may work.  I am testing some coding as well to get one player to stop when another one plays and may have figured that out.

I also have a couple more questions for you below:

1)  If I purchase X5, what is the return policy on it in the event that it doesn't quite work with the projects that I have planned?  I'm hoping that in the event that I do buy it, that it does work rather well.

2)  For people who buy X5 Professional 15, when a new release (X5 Professional 16, 17, etc) are released, do we pay each time a new version comes out?  Or is it lifetime free updates for having purchased the program?

3)  With regards to creating a digital downloads store and people purchasing the item, is a customer sent a special link that is secure for them to download or is this a link that they can send to everyone they know who can download the same item for free vs paying for it?  Wasn't sure how this aspect of X5 worked... I saw the temporary link option which I would probably choose to do, but still wasn't sure how security worked in terms of sending the digital download.

4)  Is it better to add the digital download to be downloaded after purchase as a Local File or to upload them onto my server and set it up that way?  Wasn't sure which was the more secure option to use in the "Digital Product" File type option, whether Local File on PC or Internet file (was afraid internet file would allow them to know where to send friends to download it to avoid paying for it.

Thanks again in advance!  Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi German,

I'll address your concerns in steps :

1) You have 30 days time to ask for a refund should you find our product unsuitable for your needs. 30 days starting from your purchasing date.

2) If you buy the newest v15 Evolution or Professional version, they include our Update Protection. This means that you've got every possible update available for the software free to download for a whole year.

3) As you said, our users that need to have a link sent which must decay after a while, the temporary link feature is the right way to go.

4) This doesn't exactly work like this. This option simply means "my file is currently on my pc. please upload it online and link it" or "my file is already online, I just need to specify it's URL"

Let me know should I be able to provide more information about this

Thank you

Stefano

Thank you very much for your information Stefano, I do appreciate it.  One other question in response to what you stated... with question #2 above, how much does it cost to continue update and support once the full year is up?  Is it the same price as when you first buy it or are there discounts for renewing support and updates?

Hi German.

When the Upgrade Protection is about to end, we will be sure to notify the user, so that he can renew it beforehand at a better price.

Should the Upgrade Protection run out instead, you will be prompted to renew it by paying the full price of the product again.

Let me know if I can provide further help

Thank you

Stefano
