In the new privacy law in the Netherlands it is not always allowed to use the e-mail adres if the person does.nt allowe this.
But for the acces to pages only for members i have to use the e-mail adres. In older versions it was also possible to make a username (not an e-mail adress).
Ofcourse I can make a fake adres *** but that is not logical for the user.
Can you make it possible that I can use USERNAMES ?

It is an European Law. (EU)
But still a good question.
I think a privacy rule that adresses the use of the mail address will suffice. But if you want t o be safe and don't want to collect any data you will have a problem with a mail login.
I will ask Incomedia te react as well.

Hi D.G.,
I don't believe this represents an issue for you at the moment, as far as law is involved.
You are free to specify in your policy that creating an account on your website requires using an email, and if a user creates an account by entering his email, he's automatically agreeing to using it, there's nothing else to be added.
If he didn't want to enter that, he probably won't simply be making the account. Since the email is an important piece of information, essentials in case for example when in need of sending a confirmation email, this data has replaced the role of the previous username
I hope I've been helpful
