Responsive design  en

HI guys,

I m trying to split objects for responsive design. Somehow I m not able to set end of the pages between objects 1 and 2, objects 3 and 4, as well as 5 and 6, objects 7 and 8.

2. By smaller resolution is it possible to change the size of the text?

3. How can I remove the left empty column? It must be there due to centering the text, unfortunatelly it is considered by X5 as object so the only margin I can set up actually it is between empty space and the content. Asi You can see on the picture.

4. Do You think there is still someone who uses resolution 480 px and lower? Nokia 5110? Because it is impossible to remove it...

Thank You a lot for the hints.

Have a good one

Ivan

If you wish you can add breaks so text and pictures are one above the other rather than 2 columns on tablets etc.

It is not possible to vary the text size based on resolution, but this is a major advantage. The text will be equally readable on desktop, tablet or mobile.

The left empty object appears to be a sidebar (designed to hold a vertical menu), you can remove it in step2 template, template structure and select header and footer rather than header, footer and left (or right) sidebar.

The nominal resolution for mobiles is only 320px for older phones, I know of none which report greater than 480px even though from your point of view they are significantly higher resolution. when using Pro I actually add a new resolution breakpoint of 320 so I can design for older (320) and newer (480) mobiles.

Hi Esahc,

thanks for Your answer. Unfortunatelly my project collapsed - I m not able to get in, just an error message appears... I hope Incomedia replies soon, I need to do some more work before presentation.

The left empty object was empty space, (column) just to make margin for text objects in the "center". I thought You can split and make order in any "chaos" You create.

Well that is Your point about resolution - I trully don´t know any person using 480 or 320 pixel as resolution. Adjusting option for erasing 480 px option could be an advantage, because if You have lot of text by 320 px, or 480 px is just endless scrolling down, not to mention the picture quality - this is what You call major advantage, to me it is strange and not very nice solution. I d like to have it adjustable because everything looks different in smaller resolution (to me uglier). You personally You can add whatever resolution I don´t mind, but why there is a basic "must" option I really don t understand.

Thank You again, when I get back to my project I try to remove the empty space and I m gonna put margins inside text field.

Have a good one

Ivan

Ivan, if you want Incomedia's help you need to tell them what the problem is. What do you mean the project has collapsed? What is the error message? Have you tried opening WX5, selecting project, double clicking backup, selecting a backup and then double clicking redo?

v15 does not like empty spaces, if you must have them place objects, just don't add content.

BTW, go to my website on your phone. http://esahc.com/

Everyone with a mobile uses <480. What you see was designed for 320-480px

Ivan, please note that 480 is not actually a “resolution.” In responsive design, 480 refers to a “viewport.” I have explained this concept in one of my video tutorials.

Hi guys,

thank You for an update. As I understood, viewport is "zooming" website according to metatag and depends on screen resolution of the hardware. Usually meta is set up for 1.0 which means by resolution of 1920*1080 You can count 960*540 after reduction. I have checked in biggest online store in Czech Republic offer of the phones with resolution smaller than 1280x760 and I found there 7 phones having smaller resolution - comparing to 554 different models with resolution 1920*1080 and there are even better resolution phones on the market. So I believe people who decide to buy phone with smaller resolution are more or less ready to accept disadvantages connected to their choice.

Issue with my website I m solving with Incomedia directly, they recommended me to install beta version 15.2.1, the issue I have suppose to be fixed with this version and when beta will be released I can update it and there won t be any issue any more. I hope.

Myron thanks for nice video. Screen caliper is very nice tool.

Thank You for recommendation, I really would like to have an option to increase 480 pix to at least 720 px.

Best regards

Ivan
