I have created a contact form and used the link option to link to a confirmation page that has been created and sits as a page in the website map. The site is uploaded to a server but the confirmation page does not load.

Hello Chris L.

Open your Website X5 Software>Open the page where you created the contact form>Open the contact form and create a field of 'Email Address'>Go to 'Send' option>Now in the 'Confirmation email for the user' section select 'Send a confirmation email to the user', 'Sender Email Address (which is your email id)', User Email ID>Then select the confirmation page and Save it.

In Step 3:Map, select the confirmation page and click on Properties>Now select the Extended Page Title and File Name>Edit the Page description and Website Keywords section and save it>Now upload your website to the internet and check if everything is ok. I thinks you will not find any issue regarding Confirmation Page.

Hope this will help you. If problem still occurs then please keep posting.

Thank you

Hello Ani b. Thank you for your prompt response.

I had already done all of the things you suggested with the exception of setting the extended page description and website key word. I did that but didn't expect that to have any effect on the problem. I still get the same result.

In addition the contact form page doesn't have a "reset" button even though the instruction guide indicates that both a send button and a reset button are automatically created by the software when you save the form design.

On top of that I can't get the form to send me an email with the data from the form. I have tried 5 different PHP versions on my web host platform and spoken to them regarding any other set up necessary to make PHP work, They say there is not given that the form was created by software using HTML. They have checked DNS settings for both the web site and my email address and they are both correct.

They have also checked for any bounced emails but there is nothing. I tried also using my Gmail address as the send option but still no luck.

I have also tried sending using Authenticated SMTP, low quality server script, and low level script from data management settings.

Nothing seems to work. I am wondering if there is a programme issue with X5 version 06.1.1.

You can view the form at democrats.org.nz/join-us

Anyone got any thoughts.

Hello Chris L.

First of all I want to inform you that your website http://www.democrats.org.nz/ is not working currently (As of Now). When I opened the website it says 'The site can't be reached'

Have you created your site in asp.net? If you did so then you have to host your website under any Windows hosting (Shared, Dedicated or Cloud) because ASP.NET is comfortable with Windows only. But if you created your site in php or html then you can host any other web hosting like Linux.

I hope an incomedia staff will look after your problem. But If it's possible then create your site in html or php format as its faster thatn ASP.NET.

I have created a site in html format with Website X5 16 and didn't find any kind of 'contact form issue' yet.

Thank you

Hi Ani b.

Interesting. When I clicked on the link in your post, the web site opened up straight away. If you can't get it from that, try www.socialcredit.nz as that is re-directed to the first one.

I can't tell you what format the website was created in. To the best of my knowledge X5 ver 16 uses HTML. I have no idea how to find out if that is the case. Is there an option to use one of the other formats?

Thanks for your comments.

I want to inform you that if you have created or are creating your website for the first time then host your website with One.com. You don't have to worry about Linux or Windows, PHP or ASP.NET. One.com will handle all your issue

Thank you

You are right Chris L. Website X5 uses HTML.

Did you uploaded your Sitemap on Google?

Did you select PHP Mailer or Standard Script in 'Data Management' Section. Try this one by one. Select PHP Mailer first and upload your website and upload your Sitemap also. Then check your contact form. If problem still happens then try Standard Script and do the same.

If problem still occurring then keep posting. An Incomedia Staff will look after your problem and help you

Thank you

Hello Ani B

I have already tried that (I have also tried sending using Authenticated SMTP, low quality server script, and low level script from data management settings - copy from my earklier post).

Nothing seems to work. I am wondering if there is a programme issue with X5 version 06.1.1.

I have also now created a different contact form which references a different confirmation page. That has all the same problems.

Incomedia Staff -Please help.

Thanks

I can assure you that there is no problem of the software. Because I have created a website with the current verison of Website X5.

It may be the problem of your server.

Anyways, an incomedia staff will help you

Hello Ani B

I am puzzled. How can the fact that the software doesn't automatically generate (as the documentation says it should) a "reset" button to clear data from the form, as well as a "send" button, be a server issue?

Even the inbuilt web page view that one uses to test results when designing the form doesn't show a "reset" button.

None the less - I am still without a solution as to why my contact forms are not working.

I hope someone can help soon.

Thanks

Chris

Hi Chris L.

Follow the link https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_button_type.asp to create a reset button including your contact form. As Website X5 does not have such feature so you have to do it yourself.

Suppose anyone is trying to submit a form and he/she makes a mistake or did not fill the mandatory field like he/she did not enter the contact number, then if he/she submits the form then the form will not be submitted. He/she has to enter the details and when any submission will be disruppted the user can reset his/her details.

I want to say you that I have used Website X5 lot of times but didn't find an issue like this. An Incomedia staff can help you to do so.

Thnak you

Hello Chris

I am not quite sure why there is now only one button.

There should be BOTH a send and a reset button.

Maybe INCOMEDIA has removed it because you can use CTRL+F5 instead. But they still have the text in the styling tab as if there should be both buttons.

I think this is a bug.

But the easiest way to solve this, is you make a button-object just beneath the mail-object.

The target link for the button, you make the page itself.

When the page is reloaded, then it will be the same as if a reset button is pressed.

You could also just make a text as "Reset" and then make the text a link.

Hi Ani B

Thank you for your further thoughts.

As I understand it X5 evolution does not allow me to access HTML code so your suggestion to look at w3schools.com is not of any value in this instance.

Additionally, as mentioned in earlier posts, I have already read those guides numerous times to endeavour to find what I am not doing correctly. I have read them again. I still cannot find an ansewr to the issues.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

Can you tell me if this problem occurs when your project in online?

If your project is not uploaded yet, there is no problem because this button reinitialize is not shown. It will be shown only after the upload...

Regards,

Danielle

This is a bug.

Until Ver. 14, there was a checkbox "Show the reset Button"

This has been forgotten, I think.

Hi John

I think you're right. The option to "show the reset button" is definitely not there.

I tried your earlier suggestion of creating one with a target link and the page re-loads but with the information in the fields still there.

I wonder if I could set up an HTML element with a "ctrl+F5" command?

Hi Chris,

I'm sorry: you are right. I just upload my first project with V16 this morning and I confirm : no button reset.

And I'm going to check in my last projects with V15 and there is not the button too!

It's abnormal to have so many bugs, no?

We only report problems on the forum and in the meantime, our projects are blocked for important problems (display menu and sticky bar, display page access ...)

Please INCOMEDIA, WAKE UP!

Regards,

Danielle

Hi Danielle

Glad to know I'm not so dumb after all.  I've spend hours and hours trying to resolve these issues.

Does your latest project send (by email) the data from your contact form and load a confirmation form?

I can't get that to work either.

Nor can I access the control panel which is supposed to be set up automatically when one designs a site.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

My access to the admin panel works perfectly well on my v16 site, so am not sure what the issue is with yours. I access mine by putting in my site address eg: www.XXXXXXXXXX.com/admin

My user name is my email address that I used to set it up with and the password is the one that I set up when creating the site. I am using domains4less for my site based here in NZ and their setup works really well for all that I need. I get the data from the Contact Form sent to me, but not sure what you mean about loading a confirmation form. Your hosting site does need to offer the correct protocols for the contact form to work. I also recently set up Blog comments and that is working fine as well. I have to approve them (using the admin panel) to get them to show up. I will send you a message using your site's form and see if you get it.

I used to live in Northland, but am now in Hamilton.

Cheers

Wayne

By the way Chris, I had to put in all my data to send your form to you, but I am NOT signing up for the Party at this stage... :) I didn't get a confirmation on the actual page after I pressed send - it stayed blank. My site's Contact Form just clears the data and stays on the page with the form - yours blanks out completely.

Hi Wayne

Thanks for the helpful suggestions.

I have set the contact form up so that when someone hits "send" the data gets sent in an email and then loads a page that says "thanks etc". When I put data into the form on the site and press send what I get is a blank page with this in the address bar "http://www.democrats.org.nz/imemail/imEmailForm_1srns06i.php".

And I don't get an email - your's hasn't arrived either. Additionally you should have got a confirmation email with info about payment etc - which I bet you didn't recieve.

When I hit the back button in the browser I get the form with all the data still there.

As for the control panel when I type the web address and /admin all I get is a blank browser page with that address in the address bar. What set up steps did you follow to get your result? I have read through the guides but it appears that is supposed to be automatic.

Thanks

Chris

I just tested my own contact form and it sent the message to my email address, then sent me a message to my other address saying thanks for the message, will be in touch soon (which is one that I set up). So, it works for me.

The Admin page is created automatically but has to be set up in the site creation process. When you first open your site for editing in X5, in the "Settings" menu (number 1), there is a "General" tab (which is where you will start on) and an "Advanced" tab next to it. Clicking on Advanced gives you access to the settings you need. The one that says "Control Panel" gives you what the login URL needs to be, but the one you want is "Access Management".

This one will have the email address of the Administrator on it. Double Clicking on this email address lets you set up the password for the Admin Page, as well as the entry page, etc. After that is set up, you should be able to go to your Admin Page, enter the email address, password, and you should have access to various settings, the ability to approve blog comments, etc. I just kept the name "Admin" for mine.

Does this work for you as well?

When you set up the contact form, I presume you used the "Contact Form" object that is available in X5? That's what I used. Double clicking on this gives me 3 tabs I can add to: List, Send and Style. It's the Send tab that has the most useful stuff for me. What did you set up in this tab?

Finally, what Hosting Provider do you use? Someone like Andre or another moderator are pretty good at knowing if these providers offer the right settings to allow you to do what you want from the contact form. I only know that mine works!

Hi Wayne

Thanks for the very comprehensive reply.

One question before we continue. Are you using X5 Evolution or X5 Professional?

The question is because I don't have a "Control Panel" icon in the advanced settings section.

Aha, I am using Professional. I didn't see what version you had, so I am presuming it is the Evo version.

I switched to the Pro version when I updated to V13. Incomedia had a great deal then and the upgrade was very reasonable. I won't be able to help you further if Evo does not have the Admin Panel but my Email form has worked flawlessly from Version 9 onwards, and right through the Pro upgrades to v16.
