I have made a lot of changes to the website “australianmotorheritagefoundation.org” and cannot upload only the modified files. It will only let me “Upload all Website files to the Internet”.

And when I insert;

FTP Address: “sgp66.siteground.asia”

Username: “***

Password: “-----------”

With a Destination folder: “public_html” it responds “In order to proceed it is necessary to enter a valid URL of the website. Do you want to set it now?”

Why will it not let me just update the existing site?

Why do I have to restart the whole SETTINGS procedure and design the site again?

“In order to proceed it is necessary to enter a valid URL of the website. Do you want to set it now?”

You need to fill this field in, it can be any realistic url to allow the program to proceed. It is strongly recommended that this url be the real url that your users enter (eg your current page on menus will not be shown if it is not the real url).

There are many reasons that it could be necessary to upload all rather than new and changed. eg using CTRL+preview will force update of all content, and any program update will invariably require the whole site to be uploaded.

Updating the whole site can always be requested and is frequently suggested if there are any anomolies after an update, from your point of view it just takes a little longer to upload than a new and changed upload.

Brian, if the above answer is not to your liking, you can of course export the project to disk and then use filezilla (free) to upload your website. It will always allow you to upload only new and changed files, it is also generally faster than WX5.

Be warned though, a backup is only created every time WX5 uploads via the built in FTP, if you use filezilla (or similar) you should create an iwzip file as a backup (step5export/export project).

Personally I strongly recommend the regular export of the project in any case, it is far more reliable than backup.

When I enter the URL and select "Next" it starts the whole website design process again!

If you have entered the URL, simply click on step5 export, upload the website to the internet, click next and next again.
