Renske, is there any chance your menu object does not fall within the header or the buttons are larger than the allocated space? It appears the menu items are only active on the bottom 20% of the button.

Thanks but I cannot see how to change the size of the menu, any suggestions? I've tried to find out myself but can't find it in settings

I've checked your website and wasn't really able to identify any particular issue with the Menu. Could you guide me in the right direction for correctly seeing this?

Also, if you could attach some screenshots to describe the problem from how it was before to how it is now, it would greatly help the analysis. 

Or perhaps you already fixed this on your own?

I believe your logo may be roughly this size. Try moving it up, resizing or cropping some of the space around it off. It appears to be covering most of the 1st 2 menu items.

Or you could just click on the logo and select send to back
