Is there any way i can update my csv easely using a csv updater.my supplier sends we a weekly csv file for updates and price adjustments but the problem is they have over 2500 products to edit and theirs is in a different format i am most definately not going to individually add and edit products and prices each time.i believe most websites can use this format but website x 5 cannot. i am enjoying Website x5 but this problem is a hurdle i cannot get over.

Please Help

Thank you.

Hello JOHN

You could try to export your products to a CSV.

This is just so you can see the format that is needed for the CSV to upload.

Then you can import information from a CSV file. You can find some more information in the help-files.

I suggest yoiu in a subfolder make a test-project. In this project you create some products. Try to export these products and then make an import.

Try with existing products and with new products.

If you have something like Microsoft Access then it should be possible to make a routine.

The routine should import the file from the supplier, store information in its in-built database, and then export a csv in the format that fits X5.

It could all be made as a makro. ( automated script).

Hi John B.

a possible solution could also be to select more products at a time by holding the SHIFT key, then click on "Edit". In this way, you will be able to change the price (or the discount, the availability etc) once, and the modification will be applied to all the selected products.

Please let me know if I can be of further help. Kind regards.

Hi Elisa i took your advice but the problem is when i choose all my products with the SHIFT key and "EDIT" and change a product price all the prices become the the same price which is wrong.how do i get around this.all i want to be able to do is if there is a price increase from my supplier i want to add the percentage of the increase which will effect all product prices simultaneosly.this will make our lives so much easier.i am really enjoying website x5 please could you address this problem to make the online stores using your product so much easier. thank you.

John

You can export your products to a CSV

This can be opened in excel

If you have any skills in excel you can make global changes using formula and if necessary macros. You may also be able to query a second spreadsheet as supplied by your provider and thus update your database prices. I am sure there will be tutorials somewhere pointed to by google, after all, excel has been around for a considerable time.

Export the result back to csv and you should be able to import the WX5 database update.

I personally avoid excel - but if needs must. . . .

Sorry John, I assumed you had already created all the products in WX5 and simply wished to automate pricing updates

Hello JOHN

You could use a tool like I mentioned before. Could be the MS Access.

In here you import the products from X5.

Depending on how you make the routine, you only need to do this import once. Now you have in the MS-Access databse the products with product-information.

You then receive a file from the supplier.

In this file is some products you have already, and there is some new.

The products you have already you make an update for.

The products that are new, you create a record for. New products must NOT be created with a X5-product-id.

You then from the MS-Access databse make an export to a CSV.

This CSV you import in X5.

Here new products ( no ID ) will be created and existing records will be updated.

You did not comment my last post - if it is because you don't like the suggestion, I promise I will make no new posts about this.

Hello JOHN

I could maybe make some test, but I have to have some material then. And I will only do it, if you afterwards intend to use Microsoft Access for the purpose, because this is what I would then use as tool.

You could contact me via this page : http://calendarforum.dk/contact.html

I will need an exported file from X5 and a file you receive from the supplier.

And a description/record-layout of the supplier-file.

Hello JOHN

I have looked in the files and I think we will need to have a conversation mail-to-mail.

I have some questions :

Is it only the price that should be updated?

Is there a one-to-one relation ( key) between the X5-product and the external product? Or do we need to create a table that hold a link to connect the internal productID and the external productID.

And I have more questions.

This is not the forum for communication when "developing".

If someone has a solution we would like to know. If/when a solution is found we will communicate this on the forum.

So - please contact me, so we can see if we can come to a solution.
