Photos are not uploading  en

since several weeks I receive errors in saving my projects with Incomedia WebSite X5 Evolution 13. The project cannot be saved. I receive a message that there is no place to save the project. When I export the project, then I receive the same message. Most times, not all photos are uploaded, even when they shown correctly in the program. I see only small X's on the place where normally the photos are shown. The small photos are saved and imported as .png, because .jpg gave already far more errors. My system is not full. I have 12 Gig available on the hard disc.

I did not update the program for long time, because this gave a lot of problems in the past. I could not import the project and it has cost me a lot of time to do so. Even your helpdesk had troubles to do so. For an impression, go to: http://www.mctrade.nl/afterpress-photos.html

Try to use ctrl key with preview, if all pictures are there then do a new upload.

Robert (& Andre), my apologies for intruding. Robert, is there any chance that you are not working totally locally (eg using external HD or network drive or do you have onedrive/dropbox etc running and synchronising the folder?) If you have not already done so I would clean up the hard disk (I recommend ccleaner - free), sometimes excessive temporary files can impact WX5. You may also wish to check your hard disk for errors using either scandisk or chkdsk.

Please be aware that Incomedia cannot assist you because your version is so old (even if you now purchase the latest version you can not directlty import to the latest version, it must first be imported into v14 -> v19).

I have dealt with 2 large projects with similar issues over the past 12 months or so, in both cases a sequence of events lead to WX5 with missing images in the galleries. It was necessary to work through each gallery, find the missing/corrupt image and replace or remove properly. This was initially achieved by first locating where the errors were in the project by deleting pages (from a copy) until saving became possible, then having located the issue go back and work on yet another copy of the original. When completed the project could be saved then the iwzip created from step 5 project export.

Since you say the project cannot be saved I strongly recommend that for peace of mind you start WX5 and copy the project so you at least have some form of backup.

It is of little consolation, but both issues were with v13, I have not seen this behaviour in v16 or later.

Dear Esahc,

I have done what you said, but the result was really a disaster now

All photos have dissappeared and my website is a mess now. Please, check http://www.mctrade.nl/prepress-photos.html and click on a link. Normally every page has a photo presentation. Now nothing is left.

Also the links in my website do not work any longer. This is really a disaster now.

When I check the program and my pages, everything is there. But when I upload the site, nothing is left (see photo in attachment).

Please, advice urgently.

Hi Robert,

Idea: Your website is on WebSite X5 Evolution 13.1.5.16

The last version 13 is 13.1.8.23. If you have an IWZIP file working fine, try to dowload the latest version on your profil here, and install it as administrator. Then import your IWZIP file and try...

Robert, my sympathies for your concerns, but you say that when viewing your project (I assume preview within the project) everything is in place and correct, then we can only assume your website is fine.

First go to step 5 export, export project. This will create an iwzip file that can always be used in case of catastrophe. If this works without error then you should relax a little and go to the next step.

If it was me I would then return to step 5 export and select export website to disk. I would choose a suitable folder and start the proceedure. When done (assuming no errors) you can navigate with windows explorer to the folder you chose and double click on index.html. Your website should open as if on the web, is this the case?

Assuming the above 2 steps worked then the problem is probably that not all files are updating online. This could be for a number of reasons. It could be that the files you are uploading are incomplete, a poor internet connection, a problem with your hosting or perhaps insufficient space in the hosting account.

First go to your home page in wx5 and hold ctrl down then click preview. This will refresh your whole site. Now go to step 5 export and select upload the website to the internet. Before starting select upload all website files to the internet (not new and changed) on the bottom half of the screen.

If the transfer is completed without error, open your website and when the page displays, press ctrl+F5 (to clear your browser cache)

If there is an error please provide a screen grab of it, if the website still does not look correct please advise.

At this time I will assume the menu has failed for the same reasons the photos are not visible (incomplete upload), if the preview within WX5 works I see no reason why the menu should fail when online - we will see.

It is unlikely, but it may be necessary to talk with your host or delete all existing files on the host account if there is insufficient space.

Please advise!!
