Registered version of X5 turns into Trial version when I clone my hard drive  en

I have Website X5 V8 Evolution installed on a couple of computers and am upgrading the hard drives to SSD and so I cloned the old drives to the new SSDs, but now X5 says I have a Trial version and won't let me upload my web page. Then if I try to re-install X5 it generates a computer code and requests an unlock code, but the link to obtain the unlock code no longer works. Getting unlock codes via email from support works OK but, because I re-clone the HD every time I add some other software, I have to keep getting unlock codes via email. Any help or suggestions to work around this problem would be greatly appreciated. If the company would put the unlock code link back on their website, that would help too.

BTW, I did buy the new EVO version but it won't read my old X5 .iwp file. Anyone know how to do this?

I am using WebSite X5 V8 Evolution

thanks!

Hello Leonard,

As this issue concerns the registration and activation of your software I have asked the Incomedia support team to assist you directly.

Official support for version 8 has long ceased, but help is still available for installation issues.

Unfortunately it's not possible to import an old version 8 project into recent versions of WebSite X5.  However, the changes have been so many and far reaching that it is almost certainly a much better idea to start afresh from scratch with a new project anyway.

Otherwise you would need to work your way through many conversion related matters, which would be extremely tedious and time consuming in itself.  For an idea of the work involved you could take a look at the project conversion guides:

Please allow 24-72 hours for a response from Incomedia.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hello Paul,

thanks for the prompt reply. I did spend a little time trying to create my webpage from scratch with the new EVO program but I didn't get very far. The site I maintain for our retired golf tournament is at rcrmgc.net if you have suggestions on how to get started. I just don't have time or interest to learn the new program; I only bought it thinking that it would support legacy web pages, only to find out that it does not.

All I need to do is make little edits to this webpage and so I am quite happy to use the old program, even though I have the new EVO program. I just need a way to unlock it when I have to re-install it. Can you put up the unlock link on your webpage and that would solve my problem? Emailing Incomedia for support each time is not a very good solution.

Thank You,

Leonard

Hello Leonard

Unfortunately, this is no longer possible. The unlock system for the v8 is very ancient and is no longer public. You will mandatorily need to contact us via email to have this version unlocked should you need to reinstall it.

I can also confirm that v8 projects cannot be imported directly into the new version. We might do that for you if you could send us the project, but keep in mind that most content will be lost during the import since the version is so much older and was completely rebuilt from scratch starting from v9 forward

Let me know if I can be of help in any other way here

Thank you

Stefano
