Big Error is still active.
After several tests, ie
new project
new page.
3 widgets added to page
1 Gallery View OK
2 Justified View Error
3 Masonary View Error.
Loading the same 4 pictures in each gallery.
the old gallery you can edit the pictures , rotation add effects borders etc.
None of this can be done with Justified and Masonary as in screen shots
I have since Move to Chrome from Firefox and back to Chrome
But this error is still within X5 Pro
I have upgraded but I dont know why I did
this was removed and made private last time it was posted.
This is a big Error that make both gallery's useless

John, neither the justied nor the masonary galleries support edit/rotate/effects. This is unfortunate but not an error.
Can you please either paste a screenshot with the error/s or attach as a jpg?
(even better would be a link to the page with the problem/s)

Hi Esahc
No problem I will set it as correct, the edit/rotate/effects.
I understand but I cant see if the images are correct ie: Verticle or Horizontal as the originals.
in the preview panel when adding images to the gallery's. that is my problem
many thanks

image attched
John, I have exactly the same problem (and complaints).
If I ever see an image upside down or at 90 degrees I open the original in Irfanview (I have set it to my default image viewer) and assuming it looks correct I simply save as (I add an r to the name) and then switch images in WX5 (I know that if I simply save the image this also fixes it, but then I have to try harder to remember which image was the problem - ever since some clown removed real time preview).
I had so many problems in one project that I opened every single image one at a time (yes you can do batch but I was tired and it was late), simply clicked save and moved to the next image. The masonary gallery opened every image correctly after this. I suspect it is a piece of meta data being misinterpreted by the gallery object causing the issue (and yes, it would not be a problem if "they" returned the real time preview).
Enjoy

also the 360 gallery has the same fault
YUP!!
I sometimes imagine how good WX5 might be if the developers were users (and used WX5 to create websites)
Have a great day

I did the re name images and the loading every single image and testing, but what a long way round.
And not only that why should I have to change all the images that I use, in so making duplicates of my many images everytime I need them
I just will not use the 3 Gallery's until they are corrected
websites with only the very basic Gallary
best regards
John
Hello John P.
This is not an error. Some programs will read the EXIF data and some will not. In the EXIF is specified if and how much an image is rotated.
You can see that in Windows file manager if you add the column for rotate (more beneath imge)
You then choose the column for direction ( In Danish Retning)
You will then in file manager see an extra column.
This makes it easy to take a quick view which images(s) is rotated. Well - they are not rotated but they have a marker of how much it should be rotated.
You could then open the image in an image editor. Beware that if you use an editor like IrfanView and the image is of type jpg and the program is set to compress - then the image is compressed each time you update.
You could open the image in the old "Paint" and then press save. Then the image is opened by Paint that reads the rotation. When saved by Paint the rotation is now "real" and the image has no mark for rotation.
Doing it this way will do that there is no loss in quality. But dont use Paint for real image processing. Ther you could use IrfanView or another tool. I only use Paint to remove the rotation marker.
Hope this makes it clear what happens and how it can be treated.
Thankyou John - I have learnt something yet again :-)
However, if the developers had not REMOVED live preview in these galleries the problem would not be an issue :-(
.. the solution with M$Paint is very good, automatically cleaning the images of all heavy metadata...

ciao

No sorry IT is an error with the software.
My images are taken with a NIKON D5000 the images are the correct orientation.
I should not have to correct pictures that are correct and have been for years.
I would also say that even a professional photographer will have to correct all his work to use the gallery's
thanks
I do a large amount of editing and photography, so maybe i know a little about image formats etc maybe I should use RAW images but they would still load wrong
If you add the column in filemanager (oreientation or direction) what does it show then?

are you talking windows file manager?
... no! ...!...

ha ha. in file manager it shows the pictures correct
Yes - I know filemanager shows the file correct. I asked if you had seen the settings for the direction?
Filemanager rotates the file according to the direction settings in the EXIF data - unless you look in the EXIF data you will not know what happens.
Did you understand what I told you in my first post, and did you try that?
Autor
I have not found the setting for the direction.
Sorry.

But The preview in the gallery's should be there as a part of the Object as standard so that you know straight away that you have problems with images.
I think I wll rest my case as it will not be resolved here.
It needs to be re instated in the Objects for them to function correctly. Why pay for upgrades and we are not getting the working objects
thanks
Perhaps if enough users complain about the loss of this feature?
John, I have marked your post for Incomedia's attention so they can offer false hope that this feature may get reinstated. Lauren has the same issue https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/pt/post/240073

Just as a test I did a test with Paint to see if the images are correct as suggested. They are all correct,
So it is an X5 BIG problem
Hello John,
I confirm that as for now the Object preview automatically shows some default images so to help you understand the final effect, but it doesn't show the actual images, so you need to preview the project in order to display the final result. I have already reported the idea Esahc mentioned though.
Thanks! Kind regards.

They just need the parts replaced that were removed from the original gallery, ie being able to edit them all within the plugin,
as using large amounts of pictures does create a lot of extra work just to check images before updating websites
why change something that worked well?
thanks
John
John, I do not believe there ever was an editing option in the masonary and justified gallery, but there was live preview (now replaced with canned images to show only affect). This was extremely handy when selecting which image order worked best and made identifying "problem" images a snap.
I suspect the code is still in there, if you change the order of images the useless preview appears to refresh (although stays the same)
To deal with this rotation problem when dealing with large quantities of images I use the batch option in irfanview (free) (& resize to a maximum 1980px width at the same time)

Hi Esahc
Yes we discussed this in an earlier post many months ago..
Just trying to get a great program functioning as it should : re live preview I understand it has never had that.
But the old Gallery did and still does, but it has visual limits> It is a shame we have to re work our Images rather than the Devs Fixing the issue.
Best Regards
John
