Payment shopping cart  en

Hi, when I set up the shopping cart it doesn't seem to be logical for the customer to use. For example when someone selects an item and it goes in the cart the next step should be to pay and then the order is complete. Instead I always have the order process is complete but then an additional link to make payment. Is there a definitive recent guide to setting up a shopping cart so it works like most other shopping carts.

Thanks in advance.

I don't run a shop, I just set up a test shop.

1) If I click “Add” on a product in the shop, it is added to the shopping cart.

2) And if I click on "Proceed with the order" here, then the input fields for the address appear, because the package has to be sent somewhere.

3) The delivery method and payment are then displayed where I can make a selection.

4) In the next step, I will be asked to check all the data to correct any errors.

5) In the last step I click on “Buy” and I receive a confirmation and other important information.

What could be wrong with the sequence?

Thanks Daniel, I think I maybe doing something wrong. I have seen some other X5 shopping carts which are perfect. ie product selected and in shopping cart, then either continue shopping or pay, if pay is selected a screen appears to enter shipping address and card details. When I do mine they enter their email address and shipping address and they get an order number with an email to reminfd them to pay or a seperate paypal button appears instead of just the card details page. (the customer does not need to know who is processing payment and it is not a natural step as it appears as though they have to have a paypal account to make the payment).

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but the customer needs to know who is handling the payment, because the customer needs to be able to pay either by PayPal, bank card, bank transfer or similar.

Some shops offer more payment options and other shops offer less.

If the customer cannot find a suitable payment option, then he cannot buy anything in the shop.

And the shop operator has to see what is easy and safe for them, so they choose the payment options that are optimal for them.

Maybe some shop operators will also get in touch and give their opinion.

The vast majority of customers pay by card so I want the fields to enter their card number to be at the payment stage. I do not want payment by bank transfer or even paypal. I will keep researching or add a third party shopping cart that givers me the option. Thanks for your help.

Information from another source.

-----

Purchasing on account is the most popular payment method for online shopping in Germany - although the trend is declining. This emerges from the study “Online Payment 2022” by the Cologne retail research institute EHI. While 30.4 percent of all online purchases were paid per invoice in 2020, the proportion fell to 28.3 percent in 2021. Paying with the online payment service PayPal was almost as popular among consumers. It was able to increase its market share from 24.9 to 28.2 percent.

Hi Steve,

what payment methods did you activate? Also, can you post the link to your website, so we can test?

Thanks! Kind regards.

The website I am trying to get the shopping cart to work on is www.theclearancehut.co.uk. If the paypal button is clicked nothing happens but an email is sent. ideally I want the shopping cart to look like the one on the incomedia site (picture sent in attachment)

Thanks for that, that answers one problem and useful to know, the problem being I have no control over peoples ad blocker on their browser so how do I get it to have both the card and paypal option in the same screen as per screenshot of incomedia shopping cart?.

If the payment method “PayPal Commerce Platform” is used on WebSiteX5, PayPal decides which payment methods are displayed depending on the customer’s device and country, see

-----

How to activate and use the PayPal Commerce Platform payment method

...

What the customer sees

As we said, PayPal Commerce Platform is compatible with the most popular payment methods in each country: credit and debit cards, PayPal and local payment systems. Of course, the platform doesn't always report the same payment methods for all the customers: this would unnecessarily complicate the whole process. On the other hand, it selects the best payment options according to the single customer. The choice of the payment options to be displayed is performed according to different factors, such as the country the customers are from or the device they are using to visit the website.
