Could use some help for testing  en

Hello X5 friends. The Freeware Factory in Belgium have developed a little app that can log visitors on a site.

Single pages or all pages in a X5 project. I am making a beta-test and would like to have some help.

It logs:

Date & Time

Web Page

View Port

IP-address

Country

City

Browser

Platform

Device

What to log can be configured. The city logged is not very accurate. It can be but not always. The city is from the IP and it is therefore the city for the internet provider.

The loggings can be seen in a reader. The reader can be set up to check against a checkword that can be specified in the URL.

All that is needed is one line of code on a page and a logfolder.

Here is one link I want you to visit. Please visit more pages on the site.

https://bramminginfo.dk/

Here is the link to the viewer for the logging:

https://www.bramminginfo.dk/luxlog/luxread.php?file=logs/visits

Please visit and then check how good the logged items matches your used devices, and make a post in this thread if OK or what differs from the "reality"

There is also a log for an album here:

https://bramminginfo.dk/udstillingsalbum/index.php

And the log for that here:

**********************************

This album I would like you to also visit and report for.

The file in the viewer is archived when it exceeds a specified size and a new log is started. It is only the "active" log you can see - the number of logged entries can vary depending on how "new" the active logfile is.

Hope you will participate in this test. In the coming week the app will be public (unless severe errors is found) and I will post a link to the download site. It will be free to use.

We have added number of visits within a session (set to 1 hour.)

And a field that shows if the visitor is a probably BOT.

I really hope that some more users will take part in "testing". It requires no skills so all users will be able to help with this.

Thank you Esahc and JiPeR for spending a couple of minutes of your time. Much appreciated.

To all - take this opportunity to help and not ask for help. Please.

We are still developing - so changes could be seen.

*** we would still like that some more users would help with this test. It need not take more than a couple of minutes of your time.

Thanks Daniel. The city is where the Internet provider is. In case of dynamic IP addresses the city could change.

Hope rest of the information is correctwink

Thanks Remus, for taking the time to test. I still think it will be public in the coming week, in case you are interested. We are fine-tuning the viewer, as it will be a General Purpose viewer that is able to read and present all CSV-files on the net. It will a viewer contained in only one file.

Hello John,
for safety reasons I have hidden the link for one of the logs, as it allowed all users to see the IP addresses of those who had visited those pages.

Hello Eric

The IP is only shown so users that know their own IP can see the and check that the information about the device used is theirs.

The logging-app is not intended to show visits for the public. It is only to be used so a webmaster can see how his site is "used". From which countries and with which device type and so. This makes it possible to optimize the pages for the most used device. If a user thinks that his site is only visited by desktops and then find out that 70% of his visits is coming from mobiles - then he know that he has to really take care of, that the pages is functioning good on mobiles.

The logviewer can be made unaccessible for unauthorized use by adding a secure code in the viewer.

The log-files is secured by unauthorized use by the use of a .htaccess file in the log-folder.

The tool is intended as a stand-alone statistic-tool to show visitors for a page or a site.

It can also be a good and reliable add-on if someone also use the Google Analytics or the Microsoft Clarity. These tools is brillant - especially Clarify, but when you want to test and follow a specific visit, then not all visits can be seen in those tools.

I know that the IP should not be exposed to all, but I consider it not being a risk. At least not a high risk but of course something you should be aware of.
