Homepage Open Graph url and Sitemap Generate /index.php Instead of the Canonical
Autor: Nektarios K.Hello,
I am using Incomedia WebSite X5 Pro 2025.3.9 and need clarification about the homepage filename configuration.
My website is:
In the homepage Page Properties, under the filename settings, the page is configured as index with the .php extension. The special option to activate the homepage filename is currently enabled.
However, after publishing, I have found the following discrepancies in the generated HTML source and XML sitemap:
1. Canonical URL:
<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.pamsmaritime.com/"/>
2. Open Graph URL:
<meta property="og:url" content="https://www.pamsmaritime.com/index.php" />
3. XML Sitemap homepage entry:
<loc>https://www.pamsmaritime.com/index.php
The URL https://www.pamsmaritime.com/index.php returns an HTTP 301 redirect to:
My question is:
Could this behaviour be caused by the homepage filename setting in WebSite X5?
Would deactivating the special homepage filename option, while retaining the filename index and the .php extension, allow WebSite X5 to generate the Open Graph URL and sitemap entry using the root URL (https://www.pamsmaritime.com/) instead of /index.php?
Alternatively, is there a specific WebSite X5 setting that controls the automatically generated Open Graph URL and sitemap homepage URL independently of the physical index.php filename?
I would appreciate guidance on the correct configuration. I want to retain PHP functionality and the root homepage URL without creating duplicate homepage files or unnecessary redirects.
Thank you.
