Autor: Lars S.

When I upload my site to the Net - the program export ALL files - not just the ones that have been modified. And I have some video-files on my site - and they are rather big - so it takes a LONG time before the files are uploaded - That must be wrong!! And yes; I have tjeckt the "Export only the files modified after last export..." buttom!

I thought i was going mad when this happened to me, all i did was add a bit of text to a page and it uploaded a 500mb video file again which took quite a while.

This is a serious issue, imagine if a site has a lot of massive video files and only a bit of text is changed, it would upload everything each time and take forever.

Happening to me to.  I cropped one image that was already uploaded and now it seems to be uploading the whole web site.

. . . did you check the *upload-box* of x5 when uploading ?

Several files have 0 bytes and so not producing *traffic* . . .

If you edit an object in the page, than the content (and the page too), have to be uploaded. If you have links of external fileson your pages, especially if they are really big, I suggest you to work in a different way: do not use "link to file" but use the "link to URL".

In this way you can manage all your files in "special" folders on your server and better organise them. Note that WSX5 always saves these files into the subfolder 'files'. Moreover, the most important thing, is that these files are not linked to the project, so you can update your website with no problem, even if you change the full template!

In v9 we also added two special buttons in the FTP window at step5 that allow you to Upload/Download a single file, even if the file is not linked to the project.

In this way you can directly use WSX5 or you can always use other software as FileZilla.

Let me know if I can help you more.Wink

I have the same problem. The "Export only the files modified after last export..." buttom! doesn´t work as in evo 8. The program export all files.

Hello Juan, this could happen because you updated something that force a entire recreation of all the files. It could be the language, the template style, etc. Moreover note that if you add a page in the website, then, all the HTML files have to be updated because the menu is present in all the pages. Also note that this means that the HTML file has to be uploaded but not all the linked files of the page! Wink

I've had the same problem myself with the latest one being today. I have updated the  news page of our website and no other pages. There are no new links, pages, images or anything just text. I saved first and then I go to export. I make sure I select the 'only upload modified...' and yet it uplloads the whole site again. I have, from previous help, completely deleted the website from the internet and reuploaded to ensure there is no corruption. I have also deleted the whole program and all extras including deleting all registry entries. I have redownloaded the program to the latest version, applied all patches etc. Still 40 mins and 69% uploaded later and I'm still waiting. I have evo 8.

Incomedia can't exactly issue a V8 update can they as we've moved on to V9!!

It is faster uploads in V9 though.....

TIP FOR V9 USERS: If your video's are uploading again at the end of the upload feature.... Press "ESC" on the keyboard and this "ABORTS" the file upload. Therefore it stops uploading your MB's of videos that are already on the server thus.... saving TIME!!!

Thanks for that but I should not have to purchase yet another program to obtain a fix to an inbuilt problem! I have purchased version 7 & 8 aswell as updated templates! Version 7 also had this problem and I asked about it. I have tried all the options (see previous) that I have been asked to do. And I have also updated our website from 3 seperate laptops since I started using the program and yet here I am again.

Hello Sean, please note what I suggested before:

Steve R.

Also note that version 8 exports all the HTML pages all the time. This means only the html files not all the linked objects. Normally all the html files are less than 1MB. The other possible reason, as I described you above, is that you changed something that causes all the files recreation.

In version 9 we optimise this process and we also add multisession FTP, so it is now possible to upload simultaneously the files to reduse the export transfer.

Hope this could help Wink

I tried something like this before Steve, but I'll give it another go. Thanks. Sorry for the rant!
