I backed up my website files with Windows & prior to reformatting my Drive c. Biow after installing Website X5 Evo9 I cannot access my website files that were backed up. I do not seem to have a project.iwprj file and noen of my websitess are listed in the project list. How can I use these files? HELP! Bob

Hello Robert,
You need to use to use the Import function in WebsiteX5 and choose the backup files once by once.
After this step they will all appear again the the projects list.

OK thanks. I had not seen this reponse earlier and reposted my question again. Are you saying I need to import each file in my backup one at a time until they are all imported? Does taking that action then create a Project File? I am a little confused as Website X5 seems to only want to import a Project file. I am missing the Project file which is my problem.
Thanks
Bob
Hello Robert,
Since you have the backup files you can put them back in the incomedia/WebSite X5 v9- Evolution folder in Documents and then start the program again.
Let me know if this helps.

Claudio - I do not have a backup PROJECT FILE so when I try to IMPORT the IMPROT function only wants a PROJECT FILE. It seems impossible to import anything but a PROJECT file.
Since I do not have the Project file, do I need to create a new one under the same name that I used to have?
What if I copied all files on the server that I previously uploaded back to my PC, would the project file be there?
Thanks
Bob

I have located some of my website's .iwprj files and I copied all of the files to the default folder to Websiste X5 (importing does not work, you must simply copy them over it seems). For some sites, however, I did not have the .iwprj but did have the data files. When I create a new project with the same name it does not access the data files though.
QUESTION IS - does the IWPRJ get sent to the Server during an upload? If so I should be able to download the files on the server to the PC. Does that sound correct? Otherwise since I have all of the other files EXCEPT for the original iwprj, how can I easily link the old data files to a new IWPRJ?

Website 5 - please repond to my earlier questions regarding iwprj files
Thanks
Hello Robert,
Sorry for the late reply. During the upload the IWPRJ is not uploaded on the server. If you don't have the project files or an exported backup copy of the project it's not possible to link the files. In this case you need to create the project from scratch. If the website is online you can copy/paste the content in website X5 and recreate the project faster.
If you require any further information, please feel free to write back.

OK, thanks Claudio. That is what I was afraid of, that the project file was not uploaded.
Why do you think that the backup software ignored the Project file when choosing which files to backup? Is it becasuee the Project file is viewed as being a system file and not a data file?
Hello Robert,
The Project files are in a different folder than the locally exported project websites.
Try to check if the backup software took also the Incomedia folder inside Documents, because all files are stored there.
Pleae let me know.
