I like Automatic Registration but there is a problem for me. I don't want subscribers to get automatic access. I want to approve people who have requested access.
How can I do this?

This is better done, by an email form. -> But takes more work. It's not possible with the automatic registration.
Create a link to the form. (you could make the form hidden so its noot in your menu)
Let then fill in the recreaerd information. And you can make with that information a login and send a confermation back.
You could post an Idea post for Incomedia to make an option to set a acknoladgement from the admin panel.

If I have 100 customers in a company that I will provide access to an area, then manual registration is awkward!

It's better if they do it one by one, then I can approve them in admin panel.
I Understand, that's the reason I said, make an idea post for Incomedia, maybe they can make it in a next version or even in an update.
For know you could decide for auto registration, and check later the users.
