Having updated my website www.bmre.org.uk it does not display at all on Google Chrome. The website shoews in the address bar but all that displays is a blank white page.

It shows perfectly in IE and Opera.

I am relatively new to web design/publishing and have only recently upgraded from the FREE version to give more functions, but appear to have lost the chrome dispaly in the process.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Hello Keith,

Your site displays fine for me in Chrome, see the screenshot I've attached.

It looks like you have a localised browser cache issue.  Try clearing the cache on your Chrome browser, or alternatively hold down the 'CTRL' key whilst pressing 'F5' to reload the page...  you may need to do this several times...  Chrome is a bit fussy that way!

Once the cache has been cleared everything should display as you would expect.

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul

Thank you for that, I did try deleting cookies and completely closing down and re-opening to no avail.  I have just done the CTRL+f5 twice and it now works on my computer anyway!

Interestingly I have just had one of the traders email me saying "Still cant open it in IE, but Ive opened it ok in firefox."  is that a similar issue?

I have accessed it via several computers and the only issue I have had is with Chrome but I am beginning to wonder about IE now!

Many thanks for your time, much appreciated

Keith

It's quite normal to have to clear the browser cache after site updates, Keith.

Please note it's the cache that needs to be purged, not cookies or the browser site history (although sometimes cookies need deleting too, but for different reasons!).

If you refresh the cache on any Internet Explorer browsers then your site should display as intended on them too.  Your site loads fine for me on my own copy of Internet Explorer.

Issues like this don't really affect your site visitors too much, because their cached pages will expire periodically anyway, forcing the browser to download the most recent page(s) anew.

But when you have made a site update and need to see the changes reflected online immediately in your own browser then you can speed things up by doing a manual cache clearance as described.

Hope that makes things a bit clearer.

Paul

Hi Paul

Many thanks that seems to have cleared it up for me very well.  I have made some minor tweaks to the website, that only I would really notice and using the refresh they have shown up immediately across all browsers that I have.

Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated.

Best regards

Keith
