Checking my files on the server I have noticed that for some reason the majority of my document names (Word, PDF) have been changed?
e.g. From a page I have a linked to a document '2015dates-iss-nov1.pdf'. After uploading the page the document has changed to '2015dates-iss-nov1_o9q9y9d6.pdf' In some cases the original document is on the server plus the altered one. THis is also happening to Word Documents.
Anyone know why

Here is a copy of the files on the server
Hello Ron,
I would prefer Incomedia to provide you with a definitive, official answer as to why, but as the support staff do not work weekends I will comment briefly in the interim.
Files on the server must always have unique names. A situation cannot exist where the same file is present on the server with exactly the same name.
As you work with WebSite X5 you will sometimes reference or link to the same file using the various Objects, etc. - in order to avoid conflict WebSite X5 designates a new, modified name to a file if it has been utilised more than once in the same project. This is normal WebSite X5 behaviour.
If you wish, you can periodically delete all files from your server and then upload your project anew, which will ensure that only current, valid files are in place. The file names may differ from those you expect, but this does not affect the usability of your website.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hello Ron,
The answer Paul gave you is correct. In case the program notice a file with the same name has been added twice or more, since all are then uploaded in the files folder, on one the name is changed since on the same folder it cannot exist more files with the same name. The program cannot know if it is the exact same file or a different one with the same name and so to avoid to delete one it changes the name to it so it can be uploaded in the same folder.
Many thanks!
